Wei Di Hotel - Zhangjiajie

We tried to check into this hotel with not one staff member speaking English or even trying to communicate . Lucky I had a chinese friend write some things down for me before I left australia. We went up to our room only to discover that we had 2 single beds which wasn't what we asked for. My partner had to draw a picture to try to get them to understand that we wanted a double bed. Eventually we got one. There was no tea or coffee facilities, no toilet paper, no bottled water, cause they recommend u don't drink their tap water,no air conditioning and it was dirty. Our room included a buffet breakfast which we went down for at 8.50, thinking it finished at 9:39 but it finished at 9: they wouldn't let us in, not even for a coffee. Their service was appalling !!!!! I wouldn't recommend this place to any body

It's difficult to rate the hotels in Zhangjiajie. It's a poor city and western tourists have only recently discovered its amazing attractions. Therefore, the hotels lack many of the amenities found in western hotels or other cities in China. This hotel did not provide an in-room safe, fridge or mini bar, or bottled water. It had the hardest beds of any hotel we stayed in China. There was a bad smell throughout he hotel. Weak air conditioning. Paper thin walls and lots of outside noise. The breakfast buffet was extremely limited with no western options, and they often ran out of items. The staff speaks almost no English, to the point that I couldn't even set a wake up call. The only good feature of this hotel is that it's literally across the street from the cable car and bus station for Tianmen Mountain.

We stayed there on 18 to 19 March 2014.It has a good location , near the train and cable car station. As ZJJ city has not much entertainment, the visit to Tian Men Shan is a must for anyone there. Food at the train station were also more appealing , they have a McDonald outlet and a supermarket. If you have seen worst , this hotel is consider good .We find the morning breakfast acceptable, staff were friendly but you have to bear with the control of the central air conditioning. The period we went were cold, they only on the central heater from 8pm to 6am ( however I think this is common in ZJJ) . You have to call the front desk if it is not on on time. Lan connection in room was fine ( compared with another 5 star hotel across the road which connection kept dropping and they can't do anything about it). I think it is a good hotel to stay if you like the convenience. The bus stop is also right in front of the hotel.
