Holiday Inn Lushan

Since the other reviews have been written, this hotel is no longer associated with Holiday Inn and the quality has suffered. We called the corporate office to find out why it had changed so much from a prior visit. We thought it was not part of the chain due to booking on line, but there were no indications on the actual property that it wasn't a Holdiay Inn. It took a while for corporate to even figure this one out. Bottom line: it looks like a nice hotel but when we were there the pool was under repair and closed even though it appeared no one was trying to fix anything. All the hot springs were closed. The coffee bar in the lobby was not in operation. Staff had been cut and they had the lights dimmed most of the time. You couldn't find anyone who spoke English, which is to be expected in this part of the country, but in a previous visit a year ago, they did speak it. I wouldn't reccomend this unless you just needed a comfortable place to sleep for a night. The rooms actually were comfortable, but that's about it.

We were surprised at how nice the hotel was. It is easily the best hotel we've seen during our 7 months in China. We paid just over 300RMB for a double room for just one night. We chose this hotel because it has hot springs on site and also claimed to be near Mt. Lushan. The hot springs cost us 68RMB per person for one visit. Firstly, the positives: 1) Clean, quiet and tranquil. 2) Attentive service. 3) Comfortable room with lovely bathroom and luxurious bed. 4) Hot springs on site. The negatives: 1) Location. Far away from the mountain and the nearest bus stop. It took us about and hour and a half to reach Mt. Lushan. 2) Transport links. Hard to reach by bus and taxis were very expensive (we suspect that the hotel staff are in cahoots with a local taxi driver or service). 3) Incomplete hot springs. Only around half were in operation and a lovely looking indoor swimming pool was empty. They also demanded that my wife bought one of their 'modest' Chinese swimming-dresses. 4) Food. Overpriced and incredibly bland (how they manage to make Chinese food bland I do not know!). Avoid their Western offerings at all costs! Overall it was a lovely escape from our noisy and polluted city. Although we would not recommend it as a base for a visit to Mt. Lushan. However it was a perfect relaxing getawaym we would visit again if we fancied another tranquil trip.

What will it have been smell? This land smells very good. There is a hot spring, too. It is an oasis for near. Location, Hotel facility, staff all of thing very nice.
