Howden Hotel - Shenyang

The renovation to lobby is now complete and access is easier. But the rooms are very much the same, old and tired. The carpet is VERY old and tired. The bathroom seems to have been upgraded. This hotel is good for the location but I made up my mind not to stay here again.

When I arrived, the front of the hotel was in shambles due to some construction work. But I was glad to see that the hotel lobby is functioning and intact. Check in was professional and fuss free. The lift is kinda slow. The corridor is musty probably due to old carpet. This is repeated in the room. The room is decent size and I found the noise proofing somewhat better than what other complained about. During summer, the aircon may not be cook enough except in the early morning. The room and furniture is dated and functional, the bath room was re-furbished so it is OK. The staff are usually cheerful and helpful. Every room has its own wifi without need for password and the speed is decent. The hotel is sandwiched by 2 KTV establishment thumping music all day long although this cannot be heard from the room. There is an underground mall nearby where meals can be had from 9RMB. Also the street is lined full of eateries, market & supermarket. Getting a taxi is a breeze. If you are not picky and for this price, I think it is OK hotel.
