Best Western Dongjin Taoyuan Int'l

1 - It is in the middle of no where. We should have gotten the hint when the tour driver we hired at the airport to drive us to see the Terra Cotta Warriors suggested we stay somewhere closer to town. 2 - The taxi drivers can't even find it after stopping several times and asking for directions. Any money you think you might save on the inexpensive rooms is handed back over to taxi drivers to get back to town/sites! 3 - They do NOT accept credit cards in spite of what this BW website has on it. We did not have enough cash for both nights so we gave them all our yuan when we checked in and tried to pay off the remainder the next day only to have the staff on duty tell us we owed a different amount. Then later they told us we owed more, the amount we originally tried to pay them! http://bestwestern.worldexecutive.com/locations/china/xian/74570.html 4 - Extremely difficult to find staff that speaks any English (it is China of course and we don't speak Mandarin or whatever dialect they use, but we specifically chose a BW thinking that they would have English speaking staff available) 5 - The shower stalls leaked all over the bathroom floor 6- No internet access in rooms as advertised. 7 - On the morning we were to check out we went to breakfast and a walk on the huge grounds only to return to the room being cleaned. We were escorted by a staff member in and only allowed to get our suitcases. This was over2 hours before the official checkout time of 12:00. 8 - We asked the staff a day ahead to send for a taxi to pick us up at 10:30 for transport to the airport. No taxi was ordered and when we asked where it was they called for one that finally showed up at 11:00 after getting lost. 9 - The breakfast food was served buffet style and if you don't get there right when they start at 7:00 AM the food is cold because they don't keep the servers heated. . Instant coffee or tea is available if you go order it in an adjoining room. 10 - The rooms are comfortable but the grounds are worn down and overgrown. Visit Xi' an it is an amazing place but don't stay here!

Booked it on the internet not realising how far it was from Xian city( about 45 kms)..The rooms are sprawling, the shower cabins leak, there is no breakfast except for some basic stuff served to order..never stay here if you can help it! I don't know how Best western endorses such a place..

Me and my husband have stayed in this hotel for 3 days (4-6 May 2010). I will start from the very beginning... First, no one of the taxi drivers know where the hotel is. It took us about half an hour standing with a "Lonely Planet" guide book opened at the inquire office at the railway station for a Chinese girl to come and ask whether we needed help. We finally got the name of the hotel written in Chinese and only after that we got a taxi there. Also need to tell you that it's about half an hour drive from the railway station. if you think that's a Best western hotel and everybody speaks English - you are completely wrong! There was only one lady who could speak something sounded like English, but the most fantastic experience was getting breakfast. First, we have discovered that breakfast is only served from 7 am til 9 am without reception informing you about it when you are checking in. So, we have missed it the first day. The second attempt was made the next day. We entered the restaurant the next day and saw the staff sitting at the main table eating their breakfast. At your appearance they all disappeared. A normal person will think that they all left to serve you but NO, they were hiding behind the corner finishing their breakfast! After spending about 10 minutes sitting at the table in an empty restaurant, a lady came to us asking what she could help us with. Apparently, we looked like we wanted a circus performance in this restaurant but we have only asked her for breakfast! The food was cold and disgusting. As no one speaks English, we were asked to sign the bill for something in Chinese which we refused as the breakfast was included into the room rate. They were coming knocking at the room twice asking to sign the bill but they didn't successed as none of us spoke Chinese. It all got sorted at the check out at the reception as it appeared to be just a formality and nobody was going to charge us extra. The other story is about payments: the announcement tells they accept everything - don't believe that! We tried AMEX, we tried my MasterCard from CitiBank and the only card that worked was Mastercard of my husband from RBS. So, if you decide to stay there you'd better have cash to pay for the room. To stay or not to stay - the choice is yours, but if you don't want to spoil your impression of the place I'd rather recommend you to choose something else in the city centre. By the way, bus # 238 goes there from the Bell Tower in the centre of Xian. Bus #201 runs from the train station to The Bell Tower. Have a nice stay if you still make a choice in favor of Best Western Hotel, Xian.
