Jinjiang Inn Xian Dongmen

Jing Jiang Inn is a Chinese budget hotel chain with branches all over China. Our rooms in Xi'an were 198RMB/night not including breakfast (+15RMB/person) Booking: I booked the hotel through their website, and confirmed through their hotline. Both of there are only in Chinese. I didn't need to guarantee the booking with credit card. Staff: Check in took a while (about 20 min...) as I think they were not really used to handling foreign guests registration. However, the staff was very friendly and really willing to help with anything. They help us book a private car and driver for one day to see the terra cota warriors and surrouding area (400RMB for the day for the car and driver only, not including the entrance tickets) Rooms: The room itself is quite spacious and well equipped for a budget hotel (TV, free internet...) but the bathroom is tiny. Soundproofing was either bad or our neighbor like to watch his TV show VERY loud... Cleanliness: The room looked cleaned on the first day but the bathroom had a strong smell (mix of urine and humidity) and the cleaning during our stay wasn't very thourough. Location: 5 min rides to the ancient city (average taxi fare to most touristic spots = 10RMB) Breakfast: very limited choice (apart from toast and jam, there was only chinese food) Other issues: This is a very chinese hotel, most of the guests we saw were men in their 40's. People smoke in all common areas (elevator, breakfast room...) At our floor, there were a bunch of Chinese men playing cards, smoking and drinking at all hours of day and night with their door open. The hotel staff didn't seem to care. I can only recommend this hotel for tight budgets, it may be the best hotel you can get for the price in Xi'An but maybe a youth hostel would be even cheaper and nicer.
