Pearl-Spring Hotel - Jinan

Location and the efficient staff are perhaps the only redeeming features of this hotel. I believe it was formerly a government hotel (reserved for use by the government) and the standards are not good for the room rate charged (upwards of 700 rmb). The room we occupied was large, a bedroom with an adjoining sitting area, with flat TV screens mounted in both rooms. The hotel is on the same grounds as one of the springs and the gardens surrounding it - Pearl Spring (Zhen Zhu Quan) and also some restricted goverment offices. It is also on the doorstep of Jinan's food-come-ancient street - Furong Lu, and walking distance to Daming Lake and to the other springs, the mosque and Guandi Temple. BUT .... the rooms were not clean ie you need shoes on at all times, the bathrooms deteriorating, pillows rock hard and the breakfast unpalatable. Only a Chinese breakfast which I do not mind however this was the worst Chinese breakfast I have ever been confronted with with hot soy milk the only beverage available.
