Century Mandarin Hotel

Really enjoyed our stay at Century Mandarin Qingdao. Rooms spacious, comfortable and service good. Nice fluffy towels, clean every day. Very comfy beds. A little difficult to communicate as so few of the staff speak English. The hotel caters mostly to Chinese guests so English is not a priority. Would be easy to school the staff in a little basic English. Restaurant was very Chinese. Good quality products served in typical Chinese manner. Breakfast service was greatly enhanced by the attendance of one waitress who took every opportuniy to speak English and fulfil our Western wishes. Sadly she was off duty on our last day so we could not say goodbye. Warm orange juice and sweet coffee - we got used to them in the end. Great vegetable choice - even for breakfast.

The hotel is 10 min walk from the sea and 15 walk from the sculpture park. 1 km from the metro station. 6km from Qingdao International Convention Center. Breakfast is okay: boiled eggs, dumplings, steamed and fried vegetables, only 1 meat dish, disgusting coffee, 2 types of juices and milk are the only drinks they have (you can buy soda or beer from the fridge). Sometimes you can hear people in the corridor but i can’t say it bothered me much. Non-smoking room was really used as a non-smoking, which is important for me.

Room is not especially big but looks ok. The bathroom is seperated from the room with a transparent glass. If you share a room with your friends, you might want to use the curtain. Toilet smells. Location is good. Some fruit stand in front of the hotel, hotel restaurant is also ok. Seafront is in walking distance.
