Benjoy Hotel-Jufeng Road

The hotel is good. Rooms are clean and they change towel / sheets daily. It is spacious and also nice bathroom. The only problem of the room was the ac, even if we set to heat it was always cool inside. The breakfast is mainly chinese style but you can find western options as bread, some cake/muffin, eggs, cereal , butter and jam. The staff is very nice and English speaking. The only big problem is so far from the center. The metro is just few steps from hotel but it takes 30/40 mins to reach people square.

Pros: 1. Very close to Jufeng Road Métro station where line 6 and 12 intersect. Very accessible. 2. One minute walk from the Hotel reception to Carrefour and KFC. 3. Clean tidy and well maintained. 4. Good sleep after full day of sightseeing 5. Receptionist spoke English which is a good thing of course 6. Chinese breakfast but filling enough for Indians who like eggs, sausages and can also do with bread, butter, jam and toast. 7. Two breakfast was included complimentary and my kids 5 and 10 were not charged additionally. 8. Gives à Business hôtel feeling overall. Cons: 1. Small room (Parent-Child room with extra single bed) but just enough if you use it mainly for sleeping. 2. Far from Downtown 25-35 minutes by metro but that’s why the rates were nominal even during Chinese New Year (~1250 RMB for 3 nights booked just 2 days in advance on Trip.com). 3. Takes an hour and a half from Hongqiao airport by metro as it is in Pudong district (so closer to Pudong airport)

I write this review as a western tourist who has travelled Asia extensively (4 visits to China). The hotel is, at best, 2.5 Star. The rooms are not large, the beds are hard, cleanliness is below par, furnishings are tired, staff are not that interested in dealing with westerners, with the exception of our room cleaner. tv is poor quality and the breakfast - yuk. Breakfast is very poor - it is certainly of no interest to western visitors. I attempted to have the duty chef, who was just standing there, cook me a couple of soft fried eggs and I got a curt, but very clear NO. The tea was cold, obviously made some hour or so earlier. So unless you want stewed cabbage or some sort of noodle soup, there is nothing for you. Although the hotel is cheap, as they say - you get what you pay for. Would I stay here again - NO.
