Ruitai Jingan

Hotel is in need of refurbishment. Bathroom small old carpet and drapes, musty smell.the reception staff speak some English but are not fluent and not helpful to find nearby location,only location is amazing. Nanjing West Road is a high price retail area

This is the hotel that I always stay in while in Shanghai. It's reasonably nice on the inside, but could use an update. The beds are also on the firm side. However, the reason I stay here is the location. It's around everything I want to go to and can usually walk there. There are many western-chained restaurants (Taco Bell, White Castle) that you won't find anywhere else in China. Additionally, there are many other cuisines as well. They have a breakfast and it's ok, but you can go to another place in the area very easily and the subway and West Nanjing street are very close by. I will continue to stay here.

Overall, this is a great hotel. If you are a smoker, it is not. Positives of the hotel: Good price (the smoking fee if you get caught is about the cost of the room 300 rmb), Very good breakfast, clean rooms, comfortable beds, quiet, close to great shopping and all kinds of restaurants, across the street from Subway Line 2, upper scale amenities like robes and an umbrella in the room, plenty of hot water in the bath. Negatives. The bathtub and the bathroom door needed refurbishing (room 801). Non-smoking rooms only, interior rooms have no windows (cheapest rooms) you are in a box, not very friendly staff. You can not adjust the temperature in the room. You can only select low, medium, and high fan in the room. I had to leave the window open to balance the temperature to be comfortable. Being a smoker, I would choose another location. If you are a non-smoker, I think you will find this hotel to be acceptable for your needs.
