The Seagull On The Bund Shanghai

This could be a great place to stay while in Shanghai. It’s right on the Bund the location can’t be beat. The hotel though it’s older is loaded with charm. The rooms are large and clean with enough amenities. The WiFi is a little weak and there is no English channels on the TV but you are in China. The big issue with this hotel is the front desk staff. They are really unwelcoming. I don’t know if it was because we were Americans but every time we went to the front desk we were ignored, one time I was the only person at the desk with two employees neither one would even look up. Mean while 3 different Chinese guests walked up and were helped right away leaving me standing there. Management should be reminded that they are in the tourist business and all guests should be treated warmly. I can’t recommend this hotel.

We had this hotel boooked pre and post a cruise holiday from Shanghai port. The one positive is the location, great views, but that is it. The rooms smell of smoke, are dark and dingy, didn’t feel clean, and didn’t feel secure. The breakfast was poor, staff were wandering around using mobiles, ignored the guests!! When we asked in the evening if we could have a drink and food the staff simply said no, with no explanation why everything was shut and no offer of where to go. Needless to say we didn’t go back after the cruise and booked the Grand Hyatt just up the road.....much better!!

The price was good and reasonable for a 4 star hotel. This location has magnificent and breathtaking views of Shanghai. It has multi-lingual Staff, and overlooking the colonial Bund along the banks of Huangpu River. It has multiple meeting rooms, located 450m to Metro - Lujiazui Station and about 2.3km to the Central Business District in Shanghai. The night view are stunning. Less than two km to the famous Nanjing Street- Good for Shopping. In summary it is close to major Landmarks of the City.
