My husband booked this hotel for one night, our last night in China. Why? Because it looked okay online, the price was cheap and it was close to the airport. We were not looking for any frills, just something clean, and a place to lay our head after running around all day. We really only needed a place to sleep. From one honest reviewer to one hopeful traveler, let me just put it this way, YOU'VE BEEN WARNED. We reserved two rooms. Checking in wasn't very smooth since no one spoke English, but that doesn't effect the overall rating as far as I'm concerned. I'll add that to part of the adventure. The hotel had an gross factor. The rugs were dirty, the floors were dirty, there were hotel room doors with holes that appeared punched or kicked. The halls had school desks in stacks piled up near the elevators. We wondered if it was a part time school, former school, Sunday school, or perhaps someone was going to take a hotel management class! Room one was for my husband and I, the second for our teenage children. Our room was gross. No sugar-coating it. Rug had unidentifiable stains, that were frightening. I mean, frightening. I have pets and these were not pet stains, these were scary people stains. The sink had hair in it. I don't mean hair as in a few strands, I mean as in a clog that someone tried to fix, but didn't. I literally gagged. Unfinished or exposed tiling, etc. Just gross. The second room of our children was worse. The odor of sewage was overwhelming. As teenagers do, they starting yelling and putting their shirts over their heads. Upon further inspection of their room, there were dirty (used) tissues tossed by the bed tables. Not sure I want to know what bodily functions they were for. The room had equally disgusting carpets, with what looked like cigarette burns on the floor, random hair in the bathroom. We immediately took the kids and their luggage out of the foul, sewage smelling room and brought them into ours. No one wanted to take their shoes or coats off. THAT'S how gross it was. These kids are scouts who camp in the woods, yet they didn't want to sleep in that room. How is that for a review? Need to read more? My husband had a very hard time getting the room switched because no one spoke English. Again, not to hold that against them, it IS China, but when there is an issue that could be a problem. Translating issues with your iPhone app isn't the easiest when you are trying to explain a situation such as this. Ultimately they were provided a new room, and it was better, as in equally icky as ours. Nightstand advertisements for in-room massages are available, as are the big-signs in the hotel for in-room massages too. Hmmmm...You know they are available everywhere in China, but you really don't like to see that on your night stand, let alone your teenager's. We headed out for several hours, and returned in the evening. When we got back we found that the hall way was littered with 'calling' cards. They were apparently shoved under all of the hotel room doors. The kids ended up with a naughty nurse card and some other 'calling' card. That was special.
This hotel deserves a terrible rating. Do yourself a favor and don't stay here. It's dirty and it is not as close to the airport as it seems. There are far better options to stay in that are closer. If I realized how NOT so close it was of a drive, I never would have stayed here. This mistake my husband will get teased about for years to come. We had a wonderful trip, with the exception of staying here.
In the morning, we all showered before leaving for the airport. The shower pressure and temperature of water wasn't good. I felt like I had a camp shower. Make sure you bring your own products. They use one of those germy refillable wall hanging dispensers. You have no idea what is in it. Could be dish soap for all you know.
They had a van shuttle to and from the airport. I (would have) given them a kudo for that, except on our arrival flight, we could not get the shuttle to pick us up to bring us to the hotel! They botched that up terribly.
The airport does NOT have them on their hotel list of shuttles. Since they do not speak English at the hotel, you can not just call and tell them to send the driver to get you. We had to get a Chinese speaking person from the airport to call the hotel for us. Even when they did, the airport personnel was not able to reach the hotel front desk for about a half hour. Once they did, the front desk could not reach the driver of the shuttle van. We waited about an HOUR at the airport before the shuttle actually picked us up. By then, we could have just taken a taxi.
The van was so overcrowded that the luggage was jammed into the front driver's seat of the shuttle. Not everyone gets off at the same terminal, so we had a hard time explaining to the driver before he took off that we needed our bags, that were ON THE BOTTOM of his pile, before he took off with some of our stuff after we were off the van.
There was not anything smooth about this hotel. Nada, Nothing. Zilch. Zero. Nil. Nothing. After reading my review, if you still want to stay there you are either truly a no frills adventurist with all your shots, or one of the world's biggest cheapskates alive. Spend a few more dollars and get yourself, or you and your traveling companions something nicer, and closer to the airport. You don't know me....but you will thank me. (:
Internet may be free but it does not work. If our teenagers could not get it working on their devices, doubt it you will either. SLOW....
Location is interesting. There is a Walmart, and some small stores nearby. Not a good place to stay, but you will find something to eat and some good coffee.
