Motel 168 Sinan Road

This is a basic place, but the rooms are better than the impression you get from the lobby. Good area, near metro, food, shopping. The bed is comfortable, shower nice, good value. The food court in the metro station is extensive.

this place is a simple and clean place. The knowledge of English among the friendly receptionists is quite low. The heating at my room, 6526, was a bit low. The remote control of the TV was in chinese only. Besides that everything was functioning. A small refrigerator would be a good addition to the rooms. WiFi is functioning at the reception area onlyThere is a "KTV" next door but there is no noise reaching to the hotel. The only small negative aspect was that every evening some call cards of "massage ladies" are pushed into the room. The 168 as well as the 268 are good for budget-conscious travellers, at 250 CNY per night. I will most likely lodge there again in 2017!

this 'motel' is terrible, and thankfully we only stayed there for one night. the beds are the hardest we ever had in china and the service is non-existant. apparently there is a breakfast included but they scammed us and made us pay, and at that point no one spoke english anymore. (the breakfast is terrible anyways, there was a bug crawling into the jam). the one night we stayed there, a few drunkards were sitting in the lobby passed out. the one gentleman then threw up all over the floor, coffee table, and himself. after returning after about 30 minutes, he was still sitting there, and the front desk staff had no intention of doing anything about it. i was surprised that it was even cleaned in the morning when we gladly checked out. the rooms themselves are small, and fairly clean but still seem dirty, its hard to explain. there is a constant noise in the building so bring earplugs. the only good thing about it is the location, which is right by the art district, which i would recommend everyone go to when they visit shanghai. very fun at night! overall i would never stay at this hotel again, ever. i'd rather sleep on the street.
