Vienna International Hotel Shanghai World Expo Garden Branch

If you are expecting a Viennese experience and apple strudel in the restaurant then you are going to be disappointed. If on the other hand you are looking for a typical Chinese hotel in a good location for the Expo area, at a good price and with all the amenities you need then this Hotel is fine. I have a very good room on the 5th floor with an excellent view. Everything about the room was good. The restaurant serves a good selection of food [ no strudel] and the quality and service were fine. Across the street is a 7-11 and so very handy for snacks etc. Just 100 meters away is an ATM so that is very handy. Naturally English is not widely spoken but that's what those mobile translation apps are for. Would I stay here again - yes, for my work it is perfect.

This was booked by my work as we needed to be close to the Expo centre. It's about 2km away and an easy taxi or bus journey. On first impressions I was a bit worried as it's not the most appealing hotel from the outside and the area it is in is away far away from the main touristy centre of Shanghai (therefore very local food options etc). It is very much a Chinese style hotel. Saying that the room was actually fine. It was relatively clean and not so noisy although my room was right at the end (number 39) so I would recommend this then you won't have people walking by. There was one English speaking TV channel (CCTV). I didn't have breakfast here so can't comment on this. There didn't seem to be in room dining. The staff didn't seem to speak a great deal of English. Personally I wouldn't stay here again, only because I like my comforts and ease when staying in China and prefer a Western style hotel. Saying that if you want clean and comfortable and are not fussy re it being Chinese style it's absolutely fine.
