Asset Hotel

I chose the Asset Hotel based on the look of the pictures found here and other booking sites. I checked in on a Friday evening from the airport (NOTE: DON'T ACCEPT TAXI RIDES FROM THE PEOPLE HANGING AROUND THE ARRIVALS AREA! RIP OFF!). Those photos are dated and deceptive. The room assigned to me was dirty, dingy and lacking the promised WiFi to get anything done. The single evening desk guy was in cooperative as best. When I asked for a cab to the Metro, he said I could walk to it, but he didn't give me any solid directions to find it. The room in particular had peeling wall paper, carpets that hadn't been vacuumed in ages, and there was black mold on the wall-ceiling corners. The only positive was the bed which felt great, but minus points for the sheets that look as if they hadn't been laundered. The TV was a vintage 18 inch tube set that had four channels, and the programs where actually shown on a thick inset boarder within the TV screen. My last straw was the lack of hot water in the shower because the water heater was broken. Next day I got out of there and found the Lee Gardens Hotel not too far from there. A far better hotel experience with a great staff, great rooms and WiFI (get a VPN) and a connection to the Metro within the same building. A little more money, but well worth it. I implore you to NOT book this flop house masquerading as a 3 star hotel. It's awful and anyone saying this place is acceptable has little or no standards. It really shouldn't even be listed here or anywhere else. My trip was in July 2016, but the date scroll doesn't go back that far.

Cheap as chips basic budget hotel. Not like any of the pictures here, but i didn’t go with pre conceptions as i had never seen any pictures. As mentioned by others on here, the towels and bedding was changed for the 3 nights I was there. The bed was firm. Bottled water was put in the rooms. AC was working. I was able to wash some clothes and dry them. The shower room could probably depress the more sensitive souls who visit. The hotel is tucked behind the main Wanping road. into a housing estate, so the road noise is minimised. Maybe there are better rooms and I got one a bit shabby around the edges; certainly not luxury, or what westerners would imagine was 3 star. The staff were getting on with their work, not too chatty. My neighbour banged on my wall when i was talking to a friend at about 22h / 10:30 pm at night - but hey some people find difficult to communicate face to face... I missed the breakfast (natch) and usually headed out for noodles or similar around the corner ( a very good restaurant - just turn left - dumplings and the aubergine and potato dish are really good - DongBei SiJi JiaoZi Wang (WanPing South Road) Front of the hotel was nice to see an old aunty looking after a young toddler

The Asset Hotel is NOT recommended. The rooms are old and not as pictured. The bed had ripped and dirty sheets which were never changed during our stay. The shower was moldy and looked as if he hadn’t been cleaned in years. The breakfast was lacking, and the service sucked. We had a room with two people and although they checked us both in, we did not receive two towels and had to continuously ask for them. It is a lesser expensive option, so we didn’t expect much, but it is not even worth that.The location was convenient for the subway and eating shops.
