ChengDu HuaXi Angel Hotel

I stayed in the Angel hotel for 1 night recently while in Chengdu for business meetings. My colleagues selected the hotel as it was a short walk from where our meetings were. The hotel is a standard business hotel, but the room was very comfortable. Check in and check out were both fairly quick, and a Chinese breakfast was included in the room rate. There are a good range of restaurants within a short walk of the hotel, and many convenience stores. Almost no English is spoken here. In a welcome change from many Chinese local hotels, this hotel had a dedicated non-smoking floor, and the rooms did not smell of smoke (on that floor). Very fast wi-fi is featured in the rooms, free of charge. I limited number of toiletries are available in the room, along with toothbrushes (but no razors). This is an economical hotel in a good location, I found it comfortable and would happily stay here again when next in the area. The hotel accepts western credit cards (Visa / MasterCard etc) with no problems. I recommend this hotel.

Stayed here during a conference (held on the 12th floor, very good facilities for a meeting), the staff were helpful and friendly. The room was well appointed, had everything working and was sufficiently quiet that could open the window if I wanted to (I did). The only drawback was a disappointing breakfast where firstly it's a mistake to turn up any time later than about 745 most the food will have gone and secondly if you are a Westerner then you are going to have problems (some fried eggs with a bit of fried rice some Chinese greens is about it…). Having said that, there was fuel to be had to start the day and that is enough for me!

I stayed a couple of nights at this hotel. It is a very good option in Chengdu. The rooms are spacious and very clean. The beds are comfortable; the large screen TV has a couple of English channels. The Wi-Fi is free and it is reasonably fast. The morning buffet has plenty of options, although few "Western" options. The staff is very professional and courteous, most of those at the reception spoke good English. The hotel provides free umbrellas if needed, and there is even a bike you can borrow to go around. Overall I recommend this hotel.
