Ibis Ya An Langqiao

I really can't recommend this hotel more. The price was excellent at AUS$35 (including an excellent breakfast) for a beautiful, clean, double room with en-suite bathroom. The location was perfect, right at the landmark bridge, and the service was extraordinary - the staff were very pleasant and helpful, even with limited English - cell phone translators were at the ready at all times :), and we really enjoyed our time there. In fact we are going back again next weekend - for a longer stay! Ya'an is a great city to wander through over the weekend - along the river on both sides. On one side, the locals enjoying card games and other inscrutable Chinese games, or just enjoying each other's company. Along another stretch, hotpot restaurants abounded making the choice difficult but we found a great one for a fabulous meal! On another stretch - bars and clubs and louder, perhaps more modern, restaurants with lights and young people (and older) enjoying the nightlife. Wandering in the area around the hotel was also a delight, as was our foray to the Mengding Mountain on the Sunday for tea-picking and tasting. We simply took a local mini-van (for CNY8 per person) up to the mountain and wandered around and into the tea gardens - lovely! Looking forward to going back to the hotel and the area. NOTE: We will book a room at the back of the hotel again. Although I'm not sure about noise from the road nearby and while a river view might be nice, whenever possible distance from the china-hooting is preferrable ;)

Very clean rooms and comfortable beds -- and above all, quiet. Exactly what I was looking for after a tiring day. Staff are friendly. Wifi was fine. The only drawback is no restaurant for dinner. But you can't go wrong with this place, based on my stay.

Very well located and clean, this hotel offers small and functional rooms. It is what you expect from an ibis hotel. 10 minutes away by car from Ya an main bus station and a 20 minute walk to Ya an tourist bus station in front of which the shuttle buses to Bifengxia depart.One of its staff member spoke well English. Their restaurant got a C but there are some restaurants around.
