I was stayed in this hotel with a group of friends, the location wasn't good, it a bit far from any landmarks. The restaurant that nearby wasn't good, but that's okay. I don't expect I can get any delicious meal in that part of area. The WORST thing was their SERVICE. Their English weren't good, they didn't get what we want and what we need. Our room was flooding and no one cares. They just ignored us.
I can't believe this kind of hotel and service was ranking in FOUR stars. My friends told me that this FOUR stars wasn't like the international hotel, it was ranking FOUR stars WITHIN THE HOTELS IN MAINLAND CHINA, not in the world or what so even. Just in Mainland China. So please don't believe the hotel ranking that you need. It was worth it.

I was generally satisfied with the hotel. The staff were generally very friendly, the room was well equipped and comfortable, and I had a comfortable experience overall. The only big downside is that the hotel did not have a machine to charge international credit cards which proved to be a big problem when it came to making payment. As such, I would advise prospective travelers to pre-pay the full amount via booking.com or hotels.com to avoid any inconvenience. All in all, a great experience though and I would definitely return again.

As part of a private tour we stayed here for 3 nights. Our tour company was supposed to only book us in hotels where the staff spoke some english, but nomone here did. This became an issue when our guide left and we were on our own. The hotels rooms were decent and had a lot of room but the beds were the hardest we slept on during our 3 weeks in China. Also, it was pretty warm in Lhasa while we were there but the hotel doesn't have A/C, which made it even tougher to sleep. We noticed a lot of tour groups staying here and met some other frustrated like usnabout the A/C and no English in the lobby. The food at the hotel was the worst of our trip as well, leaving us to only eat French fries for dinner. We aren't picky eaters requiring 5 star meals. This stuff was just bad. They did also have a separate Chinese restaurant but we didnt try that, in all fairness, since we were eating tibetan food during the days out touring around. Finally, the hotel is kinda far from the main part of town so there's not much to walk to, especially when we wanted to have dinner somewhere else.
Overall, if you are a westerner, steer clear of the Minzu. It's more catered to Chinese tourists and is really a 2.5-3 star hotel with a 5 star facade on top.
