Zhaxidele

We stayed in the only 4 star hotel in Shangri-la as part of the tour group. Hotel name translates as 'The Great Hotel of Goodluck and Happiness'. The hotel is well decorated, beautiful Tibetan designs and plush. Our bedroom was large with large comfortable bed. Our bathroom had Jacuzzi and shower. Shower had no door. This is probably by design as enclosed space will lower oxygen further which is not ideal at 3300 meters (11,000 feet) altitude. Unfortunately staying here was not a great experience. First there was no heating and night temp was 1c. I gathered that heating is from December only. Initially I thought there was no hot water either, but need to run the tap for a very long time to get hot water. To go to the dining room you have to go out of hotel from the reception. Dining room is huge with high ceiling and very cold. Breakfast had good choices but average fare. The hotel is not in a touristy part of the town. Takes about 20 minutes to walk to the 'old town' (Duzekong).

10-minute walking to Dukezong Ancient City, clean room with heater, all in all I had a ok stay in the hotel. The breakfast has limited options but actually I haven't seen any hotel in China that I can have a "ok" breakfast, so I don't complain. The dinning hall is large and cold.

We had a room for two here when we stayed in Shangri-La for a night in early-mid June as part of a tour group. The complex consisted of a main building and a separate dining hall. The room and toilets were okay; beds were fairly hard with a heating device at one corner, which was standard for Chinese hotels. The breakfast was mainly Chinese in style, limited selection. The rest of the hotel's facilities were non-operational when we were there and the place was prone to blackouts at night. All in all an average stay. 我们两个人跟旅游团通过六月头一晚住在这家酒店。场所包括中央建筑和附属的饭厅。房子和厕所还好，床上很硬，加热器也位于床上的角落。早餐是中式的，没有很多选择。我们住的时候，别的设备没操作；场所在晚上也暂时停电。总而，很普通的经验。
