South China Harbor View Hotel

My Chinese freind book this hotel. I asked him to book somewhere near city center or tourist area. This was perfect location. Walking distance to Harbor, Hop on Hop off type bus tours within walking distance. Breakfast was adequate for westerners. There was serious language problem at the desk. Lounge was adequate. Not a bad hotel for being so close to Harbor and city center. Price was about USD 120 a night at end of June.

This is obviously a new Hotel as it was not listed on Trip Advisor and did not appear on Google maps. There seems to be some ambiguity about the name. The room key folder says: 'Hangzhou South China Harbour View Hotel'. However, I also seem to recall it as Laguna, so it would be nice if this could be clarified. Our tour group arrived here around 9.30pm for an overnight stay after attending the Westlake Opera. We were told there was a supermarket nearby so decided to take a stroll down the road. Unfortunately, it closed at 10 pm. There is a glass enclosed blind on the bathroom wall. Took a while to work out that it is operated by a push button. There is no separate shower and again needed some head scratching to figure out the little ring under the bath tub taps that activated it. Never managed to figure out how to release the basin plug! It just drained in a very slow trickle. The room was spacious and comfortable and the breakfast, very good..
