Hangzhou Tea Boutique Hotel

We stayed 2 nights and it was really well positioned because was close to the west lake. Really pretty hotel with comfortable rooms and nice tea service with 3 types of tea to try. The negative aspects were that both Matisse card and Visa credit card were not accepted, the staff was no able to speak English and they had old tourist information about tours and things to do.

The Tea Boutique Hotel in Hangzhou is in a very pleasant environment, near the bamboo forest and not too far from the big pagoda near the river. The village is now transformed into a kind of condominium with a guard at the entrance and restaurants all along the main street. The hotel itself is a mix of modernity and tradition. We were lucky to have our room upgraded because the beginning of summer is not yet the strongest tourist season. The rooms are spacious and pleasant and the staff is young and efficient. One tip however: do not go to the restaurant attached to the hotel unless you speak fluent Chinese. Instead, enjoy the village restaurants that are very numerous. In total it is a pleasant relaxation in a city that has unfortunately grown too fast in the last 10 years. The Tea Shop has fortunately stayed away from all this.

Booked here using the fatal flaw of thinking the images were real rather than a photoshop redition. Arrived by taxi a even from the outside had a horrible feeling. That was confirmed on entry where the reception was something out of a d class movie, broken down and grotty. The reception desk was manned by 2 people sharing a laptop dressed in very "casual stay at home wear". Checked in as was ushered to the single operating elevator with a single Edison type bulb. Got to the room well it is nothing like the photos. It smelled damp and rancid. The joinery was faded and peeling veneer. the bathroom was filthy and the bed well..... I left. Changed hotels. Some reviews give a five, where they get this from is beyond me. If could I would not give this a one. Stay away you will be disappointed
