Country International Hotel

My stay at the Country International Hotel in Barranquilla was a mixture of great successes and notorious disappointments. Let’s start with the excellent: the location of the hotel is unbeatable. Located in a privileged area, it offers comfort and easy access to key points of the city, but, without a doubt, what really elevates the experience is the warmth and professionalism of the staff. The staff at the hotel are exceptional. However, it is here that the reality of infrastructure must be honest. The hotel suffers from a clear age problem. The facilities are visibly outdated and require significant investment in modernization. This structural wear directly impacts the perception of luxury. Additionally, and unacceptably for a hotel that aspires to be high-end, we experience deficiencies in toileting. Cleanliness in certain areas and room details did not meet basic standards, detracting from a stay that should be spotless. Finally, and categorically, this hotel does not come close to the 5-star rating. It is a traditional hotel that is listed on many platforms as 4 stars, but due to the current state of its facilities and the lapses in maintenance and cleaning, it urgently needs a renovation to justify its rate. In short: If you are looking for premium location and the best Human Service in Barranquilla, this is your place. If you expect modern facilities and the perfection of a true 5-star, you could be disappointed.

A few years ago I went and found it spectacular. Now, it's rather sad. On the first day of my three-day stay, I reported hair on one of the beds and the floor at reception. They did nothing. On the second and third day, the air conditioning in the room did not work and its arrangement required the exchange of a card that was not available. Availability (in covers) of another room in the same hotel or in an equivalent category, the alternatives offered were to adapt an event room as a room or supply fans. I chose the latter option, although the experience was unsatisfactory and affected my rest and sleep. I consider it important that this type of situation is managed with greater timeliness, foresight and judgment on the part of the hotel, with greater assertiveness and at least with a detail or attention.

Old hotel with a renovated and an obsolete part. We were assigned a suite in the old part with noisy air conditioning, old pillows and lousy quality. The worst part is that the room had not been properly cleaned, there was trash in the drawers and hair in the bathroom. We claimed a room change and were taken to the renovated part which had a quiet A/C of mini-split, excellent pillows and much better cleaning, although not the suite we had been promised for being doing an international event. It is sad that the hotel area does not honor the commitments of the event area and gives it a treatment due to those of us who are filling the guest hotel for the event we are holding on their premises. That's a bad endemic in every hotel. The kitchen is very good, very good breakfast buffet.
