This place was booked by our tour company and it is absolutely one of the worst hotels I have stayed in the entire world. I travel 180+ days per year and should now.
Here's the good, bad and the ugly:
Good:
(1) convenient location to old town (but comes at a huge price--see below).
The Bad:
(1) rooms are horrible with no sound proofing. We were on second floor and could her kitchen above us and patrons serving and eating breakfast ate 6am.. Definitely booked this hotel if you do not plan to sleep in because you won't.
(2) When you leave the room, they turn off the A/C so if you happen to go out for a run and come back, it will only be 90+ degrees in your room so do not worry about cooling down.
(3) Breakfast food is awful...this is one of two places in Colombia I got sick shortly after eating breakfast. Food poisoning?
The Ugly:
(1) Hotel seems to be located on the main street into Old Town. So you get to listen to a massive party all night of cars honking their horns and playing music into the wee hours....sleep equality is zero.
(2) The bed for a coupe is tiny and hard...so if you happen to get to sleep, good luck on staying a sleep in a poor bed.

I spent one night in Cartagena as part of a tour of Colombia and the Villa Colonial was a great place to stay. It's in the historic Getsemani area so you're right in the heart of the old town and it's walkable to the historic Castillo de San Felipe (fortress). Nearby by there are numerous shops, restaurants and bars and the area is very lively on the weekends. The hotel is not new, but has great historic character. The rooms were clean and comfortable, though the furniture and fixtures were a bit on the worn side. The bathroom was basic (and not air conditioned) but functional. The in-room air conditioner was very good, and I can't stress enough how important that is in this hot, humid town (common areas don't seem to be air conditioned, but it's a small hotel so not a big issue). There is a small rooftop pool that was very refreshing for a nighttime dip. The rooftop breakfast area was nice and they had a variety of food options; my cooked-to-order eggs were enjoyable. Overall, if you're spending a few nights in Cartagena and enjoy history and being centrally located, Villa Colonial is a nice choice.

Pleasant hotel in an excellent location. Adequate facilities with a small pool. Travelled with G Adventure and unfortunately they hadn’t provided the hotel with the correct details which made for a very awkward situation. Breakfast was simple but nice
