It was really a bad experience! The location actually was not so bad though it was hard to find because no sign of a hotel was at the entrance! . But, the moldiness smell in the room, the noise of builders just from the neighbor , bad internet connection, waitress which served the breakfast without understanding English, no refrigerator in the room , upper terrace which was dirty from dust and builder's left overs without any view execpt to the dirty neighboring yard, made it impossible for us to stay as we intended and left after one night !! Stay away !!

Jose at the front desk at night speaks perfect English and gives great recommendations! Great WiFi strength. Strong AC units to keep rooms cool. Lots of hot water (though I don't know who takes a hot shower in 90 degree weather). The hotel is located in San Diego and is just a five minute walk to La cervicheria which is a must! 10 minute walk to the clock tower. 12 minute walk to Havana cafe. Area and street are totally safe and quiet! I'll be back!

You can tell this place is trying to turn itself around from what it used to be, we talked a lot to the staff and it's moved to new ownership in the last month and they are more than aware of the terrible reputation it's had (quite a few rooms also seemed to be under renovation while we were there). Pretty good wifi, and breakfast every morning is included with a small plate of fresh fruit, a glass of fresh fruit juice, coffee, and something like a scrambled eggs and ham, or a ham and cheese sandwich, etc Our room (Room #1) had A/C, hot water, a flatscreen tv, and a king bed I've literally never had friendlier staff either (and felt totally safe), José was the absolute man at everything we threw at him - • He let us use the staff's tiny upstairs kitchen to make some food the first night there since we were craving something homemade. • We needed to do some laundry, but the laundromat was closed on Sunday so he offered to have it done in house with their own laundry machines. • He even organized our transport out of Cartagena over to Tayrona National Park for us He also had great recommendations for where to go and eat in Cartagena and his English was superb (the other staff's English ranged from none to good). Overall - I'd absolutely come back here if I visited Cartagena again, especially if José's still there. give it some time and see if reviews pick up from here on out, might be a great value in the meantime.
