Arenal Jireh

We were shown a room on the third floor which was nice, clean and had a balcony with a table and chairs. The balcony overlooked out over the courtyard. We paid $65.00 and went to get a bite to eat. When we returned, the "manager/motorcycle rental agent" told me we would have to pay an additional $40.00 for the two beds. There was only one bed but he maintained that the room was large enough to add a second bed? I asked for a refund and was told it would be too much of a hassle. We were moved to a second room which had no light bulbs in the room or bath, the refrigerator didn't work and someone tried to break-in to our room while we were there. This was by far the worst place we stayed in the 5 weeks we were in Costa Rica.

The very best part of this hotel is the staff-they were AWESOME. Super helpful and accommodating, they did a great job of making our Arenal trip great for us and our kids by making family friendly recommendations and giving us inside info to better priced or free ways to see the area. Room was clean, bathroom was great, wifi was good too. Nice to have a fridge in the room. They delivered full breakfast to our rooms. For $60 for a family of 4, this was a really great value. Great view of the volcano too! Like any "in town" place, I recommend bringing ear plugs-that's always the case. There is road noise and the occasional rooster.

Hostel Jireh is located in the heart of La Fortuna. I stayed here just a few weeks ago and had a great experience! Not only is the location super central but you have fun activities at your fingertips including: hot springs, hikes, breath taking views of the volcano, horseback riding and fun adventures near by. The safe feel at the hostel was just what I needed. Everyone was unbelievably friendly, welcoming and warm. I felt very safe at Jireh and loved that, especially as Ulises and everyone on board was extremely helpful and welcoming. Everyone went out of their way to make you feel comfortable and have the most enjoyable experience. I would highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting La Fortuna! Enjoy your time!
