Sueno Dorado Hotel

The rooms are FILTHY and INFESTED WITH BUGS! See the pictures. My wife, our friends and I reserved 2 rooms. When we checked in, both rooms had some bugs here and there. I live in Costa Rica and you learn to expect this. But it continued to get worse the longer we stayed. We had to buy bug spray. Then when we started spraying we saw that the ants had nested in the walls. This made the shower unuseable. The other room had ROACHES coming out from the CEILING! We showed the front office these problems and decided to leave early. Maria from the front office saw this and agreed this was unacceptable. She said she would notify the manager and we could request a refund for our unused night from Expedia. However the hotel now has declined our refund request. Julio also from the front desk has been giving us the run-around. Expedia has been unable to contact them on our behalf. We tried to work directly with them before leaving this review. Unfortunately we have to say STAY AWAY!!

This hotel was so lovely! The staff were all very friendly, the hot springs were great and the room was clean and comfortable. The room did not have a refrigerator, microwave or safe, but we made do and it was perfect! This hotel has an amazing view of the volcano from the driveway and front of hotel! The air conditioning worked great and kept us cool throughout our stay. Breakfast was included and we had the cutest doggie friends sit with us most days! This hotel was only about 10 minutes from town and we were able to uber to town for only a few dollars each time. Would highly recommend!

When I arrived to the hotel , I was very disappointing. The cleanliness was extremely poor. The room looked like it hadn’t been properly cleaned in a long time—there was dust, stains, and the overall condition felt very neglected. The worst part was the air conditioner. When we turned it on, there was moho (mold) coming out of the AC, which made the room smell musty and unhealthy to breathe. It was very concerning and completely unacceptable for any hotel. On top of that, the amenities were very poor. Basic things you would expect from a hotel were either missing, broken, or in very bad condition. The overall facilities looked disorganized and poorly maintained. Because of these issues, I decided to loose my money instead of staying. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone until they seriously improve their cleaning standards and maintenance. Expedia posted this hotel as 4 stars and was nothing close to.
