My flight back to LA was unexpectedly canceled, and since it was my first time traveling in Costa Rica, I suddenly needed a place to stay near the Liberia airport. My friend had already dropped me off and was staying over two hours away, so I quickly booked Best Western El Sitio Hotel, only about 14 minutes from the airport and a great value $88 with only 2 Queen rooms available, so I jumped on it.
It ended up being the perfect solution. The property was beautiful, the staff was kind, the pools were amazing, and the peacocks walking around made it feel extra special. I also had a delicious meal (the soup and drink were excellent) and got a great night’s sleep, the bed was comfortable, air conditioning cool, and big shower.
My only small downside was the airport shuttle timing. My flight wasn’t until 9:30 a.m., but I was told the shuttle only left at 5 a.m. due to morning traffic. Also, it was a car just for me, not a shuttle. Since the airport was so close, there wasn’t much traffic and I arrived before it was really open, missing the included breakfast. Still, I appreciated them making sure I got there with plenty of time.
Overall, I’d definitely recommend this hotel if you need a convenient, comfortable place near the Liberia airport; especially after a canceled flight!
