Bahia del Sol Beach front Boutique Hotel

We were hoping for the advertised luxury boutique hotel on the beach but were disappointed. We are a family of 4 and stayed in one of the 2 bedroom apartments. We knew from the pictures it would not be luxury, but our room definitely needed updating. It was very dark and felt dreary. There was an additional plug in lights that looked very unsafe and was a fire hazard. We hardly used the kitchen as it was very poorly stocked for cooking. As the location and the grounds were beautiful, I was willing to look past the room being subpar, until we were unable to sleep at night... There is a karaoke bar across the street from the hotel.... We could hear everyone singing and cheering until 2:30 in the morning. The staff was kind but basically responded that there isn't anything they could do about the noise (which I get as it is not a part of their property.... but it should be fully disclosed to everyone if they want to sleep... this is not the place to stay). In addition to the lack of sleep.... the service at the restaurant was terrible, they mixed up our drinks, the food was mediocre, and the service at the pool bar was non-existent (the bartender ignored us the one time we went to the pool, and he was chugging beers behind the bar). We only tried going in the pool once as we were really warm, and wanted to cool off, but it was so cloudy, full of debris, and appeared unsafe from a sanitation standpoint that we did not touch foot in it again. The breakfast was OK, (the juice was not,... pure sugar water with food coloring.). Positives... the AC worked great in the room....staff were friendly and welcoming. They did offer to switch us to another room on the ground floor for the last night we were staying, but at that point we had already decided to leave early and go to our next destination due to the lack of sleep (and moving a floor below us would not have solved the noise issue.). They did comp our dinner when we checked out which was appreciated.

Breakfast was very delicious. Except for the fruit juice. That was a disappointment. Never received such chemical stuff at any other hotel… The rooms are ok, especially the children's sleeping bunks are cool. The pool was not nice. Cloudy water and protruding metal parts… The beach is ok. The staff was friendly. Not the best place for the price.

My husband and I had a wonderful time down here. Rent a motorbike and was able to go to a few different other areas exploring and enjoy each and every day to the fullest.
