Kovac Apartments

Ana is a wonderful friendly thoughtful host. Her modern apartments are located in a beautiful old building that has been in her family for generations. The apartments are very well located a short distance from the Buza gate. The small parking area directly outside of the gate is for residents only, but taxis can pick up or drop off right at the gate. Ana arranged a taxi to take us to the airport. While there are some steps to reach the apartment, there are a lot less steps than most locations near the Buza gate. It is very easy to walk to the Dominican Monastery or the Rector's Palace from the apartment.

Just returned from visiting Dubrovnik, Korcula, Split, Plitvice Lakes, and Zagreb. The Kovac Apartments (search apartmentskovac-dubrovnik) are our favorite: up-to-date, spotless, and well situated. I whole-heartily agree with all the excellent reviews posted. I'll add this: coming from San Francisco, United sent our luggage to Frankfort, not Croatia. After arriving, Zvonko insisted on driving us to the neighboring town where we could shop for cloths at regular prices, he made sure that my children got fed after shopping, and he helped liberate our bags, once arrived, from the airport autocrats. He really cared about the success of our vacation, not just the stay in their apartment. Thank you Zvonko; we'll be back!

We have traveled to many places in Europe and we have stayed in many delightful vacation homes. By far, our choice to stay at Apartments Kovacs was the best of the best. Hosts, Zvonko and Ana have the most welcoming and charming accommodation in a European destination gem of a city. The unit is newly remodeled and it is lovingly designed with an artistic eye and an evident concern for their guests’ needs and comfort. We stayed in June - during the start of the high season in Dubrovnik - and it was reassuring to know that we had a beautiful air-conditioned home to relax in. The apartment is very close to the Buja Gate - exceptionally convenient and one of the areas inside of the walled city with the fewest steps - so there is much less luggage porting. Our taxi took us directly to the entrance and it was a very short walk to the apartment. Zvonko was there with a smile, waiting to greet us and to give us information about the apartment and all the interesting of the wonderful areas and locales to visit. Ana and Zvonko have left a plethora of maps and brochures to peak every interest, even for folks who come to see Dubrovnik for reasons other than the Game of Thrones. Both Ana and Zvonko are very attentive to the needs of their guests. We stayed for a week and they were there two or three times to make sure that we had fresh towels and linens and anything else that we may have needed. From the moment we walked into the apartment, we knew that we had chosen the perfect spot for our stay. It was equipped with everything that one could possibly need. There was even cold water and orange juice and plump oranges waiting for us. The location was perfect as we were able to walk to all of the sites we wanted to see. Wifi was excellent and a TV was programmed with multiple language stations, including those in English. The bedroom is spacious, bright, and comfortable; and the bathroom is equipped with a washing machine and a very nice shower with plenty of hot water and good pressure. The kitchen is well-equipped and a full-size refrigerator made it extremely convenient to store food items for a longer stay. A microwave, toaster, hot-water tea pot, as well as an Italian-style coffee pot, and double-burner hob provided all that we needed for our cooking options. The neighborhood is very pleasant and safe with abundant shopping, dining, and wonderful cafés in the immediate area - all inside the walls of the iconic city. Although close to everything, the unit itself is very quiet and it feels very private. There is absolutely no doubt that we will definitely stay again at Apartments Kovacs on our next visit. We had shopped around and found that the value for the quality of this accommodation indeed was superior as compared to those offerings in other areas within the city walls. Kudos to Zvonko and Ana for making our stay in Dubrovnik perfect! They were our family away from home.
