The Nitovikla Garden Hotel

I stayed here in October 2018. The place has a special, welcoming, authentic feeling and the hosts, Zekai and Kader, do everything possible to make the stay here comfortable. Would always come back to this place if in Karpaz.

Exceptionally lovely hosts and an exceptional breakfast could not overcome the disappointing facilities at Nitovikla. The promise of a beautiful swimming pool and lovely setting (illustrated by the attractive photos on Trip Advusor), gave way on arrival when it became clear that the pool was simple a large ‘pond’ occupied by algae and lined with a plastic sheet that was peeling away from its concrete base. Caged birds squawking pitifully in the dining area created an uncomfortable atmosphere.

We stayed at Nitovikla for one night during our honeymoon as we'd hired a car and drove to the other side of Cyprus. The staff were friendly and made us feel welcome, they said to us "make yourselves at home". The area surrounding the hotel made me feel a little uneasy as it was quite desolate. I wouldn't recommend staying in this area for more than a night or two. The staff cooked us a meal which was spectacular, lots of choice and home grown goods. The hotel has animals and the poor cat had a limping leg. We questioned Ercan about this and he seemed fairly nonchalant about the situation. The staff claimed that a vet had been out to visit and that there wasn't anything they could do to help the cat. The chickens/cockerels seemed very unhappy cooped up in a small area and all clumped to one side wanting to get out. The hotel itself was very quaint and quirky and the room was comfortable. The staff gave us a demonstration on how local, Turkish coffee was made which was a great experience. The staff were warm and seemed keen to talk to us and make us feel welcome.
