Hotel Plzen

The hotel is generally fine, but needs a lot of pampering, a good dose of maintenance and small dips would give it another look. Of course, the photos of Booking are quite misleading, our room was fine, but it was very gloomy, hardly sunlight entered through the main window, however, the bathroom was separated by a corridor where there was a window through which light entered at dawn, because the door of the room has a glass that lets all that light pass early, enough for it to wake you, but not enough to illuminate the room throughout the day. The bathroom urgently needs the screen fixed, which did not hold and remained open all the time, leaving the floor soaked when showering. The bathtub had loose sheets, and the artichoke was completely damaged, neither raised, lowered, nor hooked, you had to be holding it all the time, it was very uncomfortable. The normal breakfast was somewhat hampered by the constant wasps. It has an area with toys for children where they can be entertained after breakfast. There's no elevator. Check in/out is totally impersonal, it is done through an app, which, depending on whether it is good or bad, we could have avoided passing through reception, we did it by mere formalism, but it was a dry and brief reception, without much warmth. Broadly speaking, we feel quite disappointed with the hotel, especially on the issue of maintenance, it is a shame that they let it degrade like this.

Stayed for one night on 25th May. We arrived late, around 9pm, after one of the bikes broke down near Würzburg. The two ladies on reception were welcoming and friendly. We had booked parking and this is inside the courtyard and is locked at night. It costs €6 a night. We got two bikes on there. Next to us some German bikers had 4. I am confused about the Ibis comment on a previous review. The room I had for €35 was far better. There is an Italian restaurant across the parking lot and we had a complimentary prosecco voucher when we checked in. Food there was good. The next morning the breakfast buffet was very good with plenty of options and places to eat it.

Usual Ibis, where your room has no millimeter of spare space, but you generally get what you pay for. But we were extremely disappointed to find poor Covid risk reduction. Nothing was done to encourage social-distancing, and during dinner and breakfast we saw no attempt to clean tables in between users. A very poor performance from such a large group.
