La Dolce Vita

We loved the hotel, all the very friendly staff, mainly its administrator Vicky. All the depa was well clean, the beds and pillows comfortable, the kitchen well equipped, for the first time I have used a hotel kitchen. The restaurant next door excellent. I recommend it 100%.

We booked this place through VRBO,and other than a bit of a shaky start (VRBO promised we had a reservation, but neither they, not we, could get any email response from the hotel) We showed up anyway, our VRBO receipt was good, and it all got better from there. We learned very quickly that, in Las Terrenas, there is often little or no English spoken, just Spanish. At La Dolce Vita, with the exception of Kathy, who we came to love, and who speaks enough English to meet with our basic Spanish, no one else there speaks English. We had a one bedroom apartment, cleaned every day and twin beds put together for about a king sized bed. When compared to other places we've stayed in Mexico and the Caribbean over the years, the mattress was decently comfortable and, while we know the sheets were changed several times over the two weeks we were there, we aren't sure how often. Always clean in any case. Bathroom towels were changed every few days as well (although a little threadbare) We had a basic kitchen, with a good size fridge, although VERY basic utensils and cooking pots. Lovely grounds, beautiful clean pool, and everyone always smiling and helpful. There always were plenty of lounges at the pool and towels from reception with no complicated rules for using them or signing them out. Did I mention everyone is always smiling and helpful? I know I ramble on, but, in short, we had such a great time here, we've already booked a two bedroom apartment for five weeks next year!

This is my second stay at LA Dolce Vita Residences and both apartments have been similarly good. You may not find a good kitchen knife, or maybe no bottle opener, but the linens are clean, the mattresses decent, and you are close to everything. The pool is good, the staff efficient and friendly, and the price is better than most of the similar quality places around. Not fancy, but not dirty or falling apart.
