Sunrise Select Royal Makadi Resort

Hugely mixed bag of thoughts to this place. Certainly did not feel 5*. Some things may be just down to Egyptian resort standards in general eg pool slide mgmt of children once down the slides and poor service for Asian tourists - we found it extremely difficult to be attended to poolside compared to other white ethnicities. Pros were: - the calibre and range of water park slides themselves (with some gem poolside staff), - beach accessibility - overall hotel cleanliness Cons were: - menu was extremely repetitive… and seeing as food is one of the key things you look forward to going down for at an all inclusive THIS WAS NOT a food offering to a 5* std - drinks were budget spirits and of varied quality depending on your waiter… definitely not 5* expectation - kids club was very poor interaction with children as most would just sit there doodling while your child self entertains - very disappointing engagement levels which made it hard to leave your child in their hands as you’d want / expect from a 5* resort. Activities etc also not well advertised. - Outdated rooms nothing like the perfect lighting photos spamming the attempt to view the traveller pics of the rooms - check in late night was horrendously confused and delayed - forgetful or slow with drinks was a big issue for us… and a few staff had terrible attitude eg Ali at the poolside bar was the worst staff I’ve ever interacted with - rushing me to order, forgetting my order, and a stroppy face. Similar with Hamada but he was trying to be professional at times. - general mgmt standards - We were USHERED out of a restaurant before our meal ended EVEN though they got the order wrong and we got our food late - WAS HIGHLY UNACCEPTABLE and NOT 5* STD. - wanted to book a haircut and was told he had to go to the salon and book in person…which I felt was strange…but turned out it was to allow a hard sell of package treatments… which was very awkward and unnecessary. I’ve put poor because there were some big cons which dragged down the experience eg getting told to leave before meal ended even though our time at table was normal, food variety, drinks quality, the spec of rooms, some service, kids club engagement.

We had an amazing stay at Sunrise Royal Makadi Resort. Everything was excellent from the moment we arrived until we left. The staff were incredibly kind, friendly and always smiling. They made us feel welcome throughout our whole stay. The animation team was fantastic – they were energetic, fun and always made sure there were plenty of activities during the day and great entertainment in the evening. The food was delicious with a huge variety every day, so everyone could find something they liked. The rooms were clean, comfortable and cleaned daily. The hotel itself is beautiful, well maintained and the gardens are lovely. The beach and pools were perfect, and the atmosphere around the resort was relaxing but never boring. We truly enjoyed every day of our holiday. Thank you to everyone who made our stay so special. We would definitely recommend this hotel and hope to come back again in the future!

Hotel was good and the animation team as well, but the food was every day almost the same
