We stayed at DoubleTree by Hilton Sharm El Sheikh – Sharm Bay in August 2026 as a family group of 12 people across four rooms. I want to be fair and say that the hotel staff we dealt with were generally polite, friendly and helpful. The swimming pool area was also very good and we enjoyed the pool. Unfortunately, the accommodation and overall organisation did not meet the standard we expected from a four-star all-inclusive hotel. One of the biggest disappointments was the difference between the rooms shown when viewing the hotel online and the rooms we were actually given. The pictures shown when booking give a much more modern impression, including newer-looking accommodation and sea-view rooms. However, we were allocated rooms in the older pool-view building. The pool itself was very good, but the rooms were extremely dated and felt as though they had not been substantially renovated for many years. The furniture was old and worn, the rooms had an old/musty smell, and the overall condition was far below what we expected from a DoubleTree by Hilton. The beds and mattresses were also in poor condition, with visible signs of age and wear. The air-conditioning system was another major problem. It appeared very old and was unreliable. The air conditioning in my room was not working properly and I reported it to reception. Despite repeatedly contacting reception and staff attending several times, the problem was not properly resolved. I called reception at least five times. At approximately 5:00 am, I was eventually offered another room. Because my children were staying in the adjoining room, I had specifically requested adjoining/interconnecting accommodation. I explained that I could not simply move away from them. I was told to use the replacement room for the night and return in the morning, but that room was not properly prepared and did not have the required extra bed. It took another hour to resolve this, meaning I was only able to sleep at around 6:00 am. The check-in experience was also disappointing. We arrived at approximately 9:30 am after travelling overnight, but our rooms were not ready until around 12:30 pm. We were told that we could not eat or drink under the all-inclusive arrangement until we were checked in unless we paid separately. Of our four rooms, only three were initially available, and the family waiting for the fourth room had to wait another two to three hours. There was also a health issue during our stay. On approximately the fifth day, after dinner at the hotel, three members of our group developed significant stomach problems, including abdominal pain and diarrhoea. My sister-in-law continued to have symptoms after returning to the UK and subsequently required medical treatment and antibiotics. I obtained medication from a pharmacy in Sharm El Sheikh and continued to experience symptoms. I cannot state with certainty that the hotel food caused the illness, but three members of the same group becoming ill during the same holiday was concerning. The hotel has potential. The pool area was very good, the location is pleasant, and the staff we dealt with were generally helpful. However, the condition of the rooms was a major disappointment. For a hotel carrying the DoubleTree by Hilton name and being marketed as a four-star property, I expected a much better standard. The older accommodation buildings and rooms appear badly in need of substantial refurbishment. The difference between the modern-looking accommodation shown when booking and the dated rooms we actually received was particularly disappointing. Unfortunately, based on our experience, I would not stay here again unless the older rooms are substantially renovated and the standard of maintenance is improved.

I am currently in holiday at the Doubletree (arrived only yesterday) and already feeling downhearted about our stay. Our room is lovely but the location is a real disappointment. I woke up this morning to see a building site opposite our room (10m away). At first I thought that it might not be too bad but then they started to cut stone or tiles and it was noisy and dust was flying everywhere. I called reception 3 times to ask if it would be possible to switch rooms but I was put on hold, transferred a number of times, told they’d call me back and they didn’t, ignored and when I finally spoke to someone he wasn’t even listening when I spoke like he didn’t care. Finally I was told the hotel was full and I would need to call the next day. I’m not sure that it’s right for a guest to have to ask to change rooms because of construction work going on right outside. We should never have been placed in the room in the first place. This is our holiday, and something we have looked forward to for months. It’s so upsetting to be dismissed and ignored. The hotel is lovely (from what we have experienced so far), just spoilt by the building site. It’s really disappointing and not what I’d expect from Hilton. I’ve already been looking at whether we can book a different hotel (at my own cost) which is also terrible.
