Oldhouse Apartments

We, the group of five friend, rented one of their apartment through booking.com (called pikkB in tripadvisor but Old Town - Oleviste Apartment in booking.com). As we arrived we couldn’t get in to the apartment (they gave us a code to the keybox but the box was empty) It took mote than an hour to stand in the rain with our luggages, no answer to the contact phone number. Finally a man came, he called himself as an owner and let us in. He communicated only in russian but used google translator and he explained that they have two appartments in tn 54 Pikk tn, which they had mixed and partially double booked boath. Finally we got in to our appartment (which was very good, clean and as described). Later, we happended to met the family who has also rented our appartment but had been given an other apartment with an excuse of broaken toilet. Worse thing is that as the person of our group, who had made the reservation, wrote an honest review in booking.com, the hoast texted her and suggested to remove her review and offered her next accomodation half price. Sadly she agreed. This all just leaves an doubt that this is an common policy for them to eliminate undesirable reviews.

The apartment was nice and clean, but the service was weird. I talked on the phone with a man who promised us that we can check-in earlier, between 10 am to 11 am. Three days before arriving I stared writing letters to the Oldhouse Apartment, but I got no answer. I also called them several times, but nobody answers. When they finally answered the call, then a woman said that we can`t check-in earlier. I told her that someone from your organization promised me that we can check-in ealrlier, but the woman just replied "Tetchy clients like you will ruin my day" (we talked in Estonian). It`s a quite horrible thing to say to your client who has already paid for the apartment. I asked the woman why they didn`t have answer my calls or e-mail about exact checking-in time - she asked me that what I supposed her to answer when she don`t know what to answer. Okey, I don`t understand that, because letting me know that they don`t know it yet would have been way better than ignoring me for days. She also said "By the way, we have very thick walls in Old Town, so your e-mails may not reach us". It`s quite funny, because the thickness of walls can`t affect the internet so much (there are also many restaurants and I don`t believe that they don`t get their e-mails when someone wants to book a table) and when I wrote them a letter about booking, then I got answer with couple of hours. When I arrived to the apartment then the same woman told us that I need to pay 200 € in cash for deposit. I didn`t have cash, because nobody told this to me and there was no information about it - I booked the apartment though their own website and I asked (though the phone) if there are any rules or practices which I should to know and they only told me that no parties are allowed. So, when you want to book the apartment, then please asked them to send you the contract for check it before arriving! Before cheking-in I needed to sigh a contract which said that there will be penalty (50 €) if we won`t put our dishes into the dishwasher or there will be mess in the kitchen after leaving the apartment. But unfortunately the dishwasher didn`t work... So we needed to wash the dishes by hand, but it seems a little bit weird to threaten people with penalty although you don`t have a working dishwasher. I have booked a lot of apartments before, but I have never seen a contract with so many penalties. I also needed to give them all information about my MasterCard (also the security code) and nobody told this to me earlier. I was already in apartment and I had nowhere else to go, so I had to choice about it, but I feel absolutely not safe about giving all by card information to somebody I haven`t met before. I needed to write this information down, so now they have all information and if they want then they can use my MasterCard. I don`t feel ok about it. So, again, please asked them to sent the contract to you before cheking-in. But yes, the apartment itself was clean (exept for fake plants that were very dusty) and great. Location was comfortable.

We arrived early but the very helpful gentleman at reception still got us access to our apartment. The place didn’t have the features seen in some photos but was still excellent, very clean and well appointed. It was located right on the town square so absolutely perfect for exploring. Would love to go back
