What a piece of paradise! One of the lasts stops on the ferry, a lovely secluded island. We were welcomed by the friendly staff (+++), smiles all round. We stayed at Nanuya Island Resort for 4 nights in a TreeTop Bure with views of the ocean and incredible sunsets. 10/10 accommodation which couldn't be faulted. The resort has a main dining room and hosts different entertainment each night, a meke (traditional cultural dance), quiet live background music, fun night etc. Fresh drinking water is always available. Breakfast was included, cereals, fresh fruit, toast and pastries. Lunch and dinner menu changes everyday with great variety. The meals are huge and fairly priced. If you have dietary requirements (we didn’t) they will accommodate. Some of our favorite spots to relax around the resort were in the cabanas and on our deck. We walked around the island at low tide, passing a local organic icecream shop and Lo's tea house, taking in the pristine beaches and turquoise seas. Snorkeling off the beach was a daily activity, paddlebaorda and kayaking. All free! Activities through the resort included the cave trip, which is a must do and the Snorkeling trip to a coastal location, seeing lots of sealife. We heard the mantra trip was amazing. The highlight of the trip were the friendly staff who went out of their way to make us feel welcomed at every opportunity. Val the owner comes for dinner every night and we were fortunate to make her acquaintance, an extra special touch was being invited to an evening bonfire on the hilltop. Lastly, we'd love to list all the staff and their kids, who made our trip so special, however we'd hate to miss somebody out. To the kitchen, bar, activities, maintenance, housekeeping and reception staff - Vinaka Vakalevu Recommendation: book direct with reception avoid the middle man and make a saving.

Our final stop in the Yasawas, and we received a very warm welcome, shell necklaces, cold towels and drinks. We stayed 2 nights but would have loved to stay longer. The resort is joined with Boathouse Nanuya in that it shares the boathouse, but we didnt venture further into BN. We were one of only 2 couples staying at Island Resort. We arrived on a Wednesday and departed on Friday, and from booking with Awesome Fiji, theyd booked us a Sawa-i-Lau Cave trip run by Blue Lagoon Cruises, but they only run on Mon, Weds, Fri and Sat. However, the staff phoned Awesome Fiji and (i think) transferred our booking to their own, so we visited on Thursday morning in a private trip instead. Nanuya Island Resort is the only resort in the Awesome Fiji repetoire to run an A la Carte menu rather than the meal plans, but it added up about the same. It just meant you could skip courses without feeling like youre wasting money. The food was great, especially the fish (of course), and could cater for all dietary requirements. Non-motorised activities were free, so we did some paddle boarding in front of the resort, which was incredibly calm and peaceful. We also paid $60 (~£20) for a snorkelling trip in the nearby Blue Lagoon with Moses, a great tour guide. Our villa had air con and a stunning little garden in front with a porch, very useful for drying things. The villa had a separate bedroom, reception area and bathroom, though there was no internal ceiling between the bathroom and the rest... The villa was constructed to a high standard and well looked-after, doors and screens included and we had very few guests and no bugs. Though Casper the Friendly Dog was hopeful of an invite one night. Big thanks to all staff, including Pete, Mini, Masi, Moses, Billy and Sali and all the others for making our stay amazing and memorable. Upon leaving, we were treated to a choir of Isa Lei, which was amazing and received flower necklaces before boarding the Yasawa Flyer III.
