Cumulus Rovaniemi

Family vacation. We stayed in a room with a beautiful view of the city. The cleanliness of the room was good, but the sore point was the bathroom: far too dated and with the plastic shower curtain. The breakfast is really well stocked and good. Staff at the reception were always available to provide information. Inside the hotel there is a restaurant and a bar; very convenient snacks are also available near the reception. A very nice initiative: they have made available a "reuse box" where you can leave items still in good condition, not used during the holiday, available to other guests. An indoor sauna completes the offer. Very well located in the center of Rovaniemi, it has near shops, restaurants, clubs, excursion offices, shopping centers to quantity.

We booked a double room for one night — thankfully it was only the one. When we arrived, we found the room had two single beds and only minimal bedding. I queried this with the front desk and was assured it was the double room we had booked. However, when I asked again at checkout, a different receptionist told me they could see the booking had been changed from a double room to a twin room. No communication, no explanation — nothing. Scandic Polar no longer shows a photo of a double room on their site, but you can clearly see how vastly different this room is from anything displayed online. The sauna was free, but we didn’t use it. The breakfast offering was woeful, and there was no restaurant onsite. Very disappointing overall, and not a good promotion for any Scandic brand hotel.

Hotel with excellent location, right in the center of Rovaniemi, which makes it very easy to travel on foot, especially in winter and in high season. The negative point is the structure. The furniture is quite old and some essential features leave to be desired — in my case, door locks in the rooms presented problems, something that bothers and worries in a hotel of this size. On the other hand, the service is very good, with attentive and helpful staff, trying to solve the demands within possible. The breakfast is also good, well organized. For cost reference, I was there during Christmas, when the daily exceeds R$ 3,000, which raises the expectation in relation to the infrastructure - and ends up weighing on the overall assessment.
