Odalys Ferney Voltaire

Very pleasant surprise despite the negative reviews! I was really pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Honestly, I had almost canceled my reservation after reading the many negative reviews, but I am glad I did not! We stayed for 7 days as a family (2 adults, a teenager, and our dog) and we were on the 4th floor. The room is very comfortable, modern, and completely renovated. Everything seems to have been redone (paint, equipment, etc.). The air conditioning works perfectly, which is very appreciated in the summer. The kitchenette is very well equipped: capsule coffee machine, kettle, two induction cooktops, refrigerator with freezer, microwave, mini dishwasher, and all the necessary dishes. It is really convenient for a stay of several days. The bathroom is also modern, with a bathtub and a heated towel rail. Access to the pool is free. It is very pleasant for cooling off. Unfortunately, the steam room and sauna were still being prepared during our stay, so we were not able to enjoy them. The hotel is located in Ferney-Voltaire, a very convenient small town. A few minutes away on foot, you will find a large Carrefour, a bakery, a butcher shop, a fish market, pharmacies, and other shops. The Swiss border is only 3 km away, Geneva is accessible in about fifteen minutes, which makes it an excellent starting point for visiting Geneva and many beautiful places in Switzerland. The front desk staff is very friendly, smiling, and helpful. The hotel also has a gym as well as a laundry room with a washing machine, iron, and ironing board, which is a real plus for long stays. The negative points: * No balcony in our room. * Breakfast is much too expensive for the quality offered: €52 for three people. Very little choice, the pastries seem industrial, the scrambled eggs were really bad, the yogurts are supermarket brands, and the juices seem very chemical. It is clearly the weak point of the hotel and it is not worth its price. Apart from this disappointing breakfast, we had an excellent stay and we would return without hesitation.

4-star hotel that is only worth 2. Hotel-apartment where there are mostly foreign workers. The rooms are dirty, the carpets are stained, no cleaning, no change of sheets or towels unless you pay. The breakfast is all thawed and cooked in the morning. Located in a rough neighborhood (burned cars, trash everywhere not cleaned). Etc, etc). In the morning, we wonder if the car will still have its 4 wheels or even still be there. The only good thing is the pool, provided it is not overrun by foreign workers who are at the poolside with their work shoes and bottles of alcohol and cups. Honestly, I will never return to this place; there is a better one nearby, but the neighborhood is not great.

Good night. Don’t be afraid of the noise of planes with the nearby airport. Nice swimming pool. Missing clean towels in the locker room. Small but functional room.
