Hotel Cecil

We liked that the hotel is located just a few minutes' walk from the beach and made a clean impression overall. Breakfast on the terrace was pleasant. However, we only noticed after the second breakfast that the eggs offered were from caged hens (egg code "3" on the shell). We found that very disappointing, which is why we had breakfast elsewhere afterwards. Unfortunately, a few negative points tarnished the overall impression: The pictures of the accommodation are partially AI-edited or do not correspond to reality. The hotel facade is the best example of this. Even though it was explained to us that the trees had recently been pruned, or that it served "historical transparency," the depiction in the photos only partially matches the actual conditions. The pictures on Expedia show, for example, spacious green areas, palm trees, a beautiful garden gate, and lots of greenery, which simply do not exist on site. Rather, the hotel is located in a densely built-up area that is neglected overall. At night, we felt somewhat uncomfortable in the area at times. The hotel is, of course, not responsible for that, but it is reality. A positive point to highlight, however, is that the hotel has a high security gate with an access code, and the entrance door can also only be opened using a code. The soundproofing is very poor, especially between the hallway and the room. You can hear almost every noise, sometimes even televisions or conversations from the neighboring rooms. The toilet in the room is separated from the rest of the room only by a wooden sliding door with numerous openings. As a result, your roommate hears practically everything, which severely limits privacy. No romance! Unfortunately, as an alternative, there is no generally accessible toilet in the reception area or the common areas on the ground floor. In the guest reviews as well as in the hotel folder in our room, it was stated that luggage storage was available free of charge. At the reception, however, there was a sign posted indicating fees for luggage storage or the use of facilities after check-out. Due to this conflicting information, we asked the receptionist to pass this issue on to the hotel owner. We were then told that this was "not an important point." Later, we also received the explanation that the corresponding information came from an "old brochure from the previous operator." This ultimately confirmed that the information in the hotel folder was not up to date. Regrettably, we received neither an apology for the incorrect information on-site, nor was the contradiction acknowledged. Only afterward, in the context of the Expedia review, was the cause addressed. In general, this gave us the impression that the hotel lacks transparency and clear communication with its guests. Conflicting information should be corrected promptly to avoid misunderstandings and disappointments. AI-generated or heavily edited images are an absolute no-go for us. As a guest, you feel deceived by this, as the actual conditions on site do not match expectations.

Good afternoon! We booked a room in February for August. A week ago (seven months later), the hotel unilaterally cancelled the reservation! Without explanation. If the hotel didn't want to accept us, they could have refused right away, otherwise they received the full payment, waited for it for six months, and now they canceled our reservation and resold the room. It looks like a scam. This hotel is not a professional in service. Avoid this hotel, you will be deceived.

Beautiful, relaxing, very nice little hotel, very friendly and pleasant managers Upon our departure, a couple was complaining to the manager, saying that the receptionist had not offered them a free orange juice. The behavior of these people is unacceptable as they know that nothing is free; it is a shame for these individuals, and I understood that they were doctors. Well... I support the managers because they are wonderful, especially since it is not easy for them. I no longer understand this society, and a big thank you for this good moment. Sophie
