Capelongue is one of those places that stays with you long after you've left. Set among the rolling hills of Provence, surrounded by lavender fields and beautiful hilltop villages, it offers a peaceful and elegant retreat in an exceptional location. The property is stunning, with beautiful gardens, stylish architecture, and spacious rooms spread across the estate. Our room was beautifully designed, immaculately clean, and extremely comfortable, with lovely views over the surrounding countryside. It was the perfect place to relax after a day exploring the Luberon. We were unfortunately there during the two weekly closing days of the Michelin-starred La Bastide restaurant and the cocktail bar, so we missed out on what are undoubtedly two of the hotel's highlights. We had dinner at La Bergerie instead, which was enjoyable, although overcrowded and not particularly memorable considering the overall standard of the hotel. More generally, the service was warm and welcoming, but it wasn't always as polished or attentive as you might expect from a luxury property. The pools are beautiful and a wonderful place to spend a sunny afternoon, with drinks and light bites available throughout the day. However, there are a few areas that could be improved: during our stay, the pool water wasn't as clean as it should have been, and there weren't enough sun loungers to accommodate all the guests. I also think it would be a fantastic idea to reserve one of the two pools exclusively for adults, creating a quieter space for those seeking relaxation while still leaving the other pool available for families. Despite these minor criticisms, our overall experience was great. Capelongue is not cheap but it’s a special hotel with a unique atmosphere, and I'd happily return on my next visit to Provence. With just a little more attention to the details, it would be close to perfect.

We returned to the Domaine de Capelongue ten years after a first stay of which we kept an exceptional memory. The setting is still just as magnificent… but the experience, however, is nothing like it used to be. If we had wanted to spend our vacation in a water park, we would have booked elsewhere. By the pool, it’s a succession of shouting, running, diving, and splashing, without any intervention from the staff. It is simply impossible to relax. It is a real scandal not to be able to enjoy the quiet in a 5-star hotel because of the constant noise from children. It ruins the whole stay! It is not their presence that is the problem, but the total absence of rules and management on the part of the establishment. The most incomprehensible thing is that the hotel has two pools. Why not reserve one for adults? This is a common practice in many high-end establishments and it would allow everyone to enjoy their stay. Today, the atmosphere is closer to a campground than a luxury hotel. Kids swimming in their clothes… where are we!? A 5-star hotel is not just about beautiful decor: guests also come looking for calm, serenity, and an experience that lives up to the advertised standing. On this point, the disappointment is immense!

Loved our three nights here on our Luberon Valley driving holiday. Very chic, amazing and comfortable bed, decent showers and bathroom, beautiful swimming pools, grounds and views. What's not to like. Very stylish and effortless place. Would definitely stay here again and recommend. Lovely walk into Bonnieux.
