I arrived in the heatwave a wee bit early to check in so I was told to wait in reception where there was no air con or offer of a drink from the bar. There was worryingly a lady at reception having a heated conversation and then she left. I checked in and went to my room in a boiling lift only to find the aircon wasn’t working in my room. I grabbed the cleaner from opposite to help in case it was me being daft, but she too confirmed it wasn’t working snd I should ask for another room. However the man at reception told me that I actuslly had the last room due to a local exhibition and I should go elsewhere. The manager in the back office asked my nationality and told him to offer me a fan. A fan? In 38 degree heat? Not sure what my hationality has to do with it either. There was already a fan in the room which clearly shows the hotel knew there was no functioning aircon, but they just didn’t bother contacting me to ask if I wanted to rearrange my stay. Bery poor, considering I had just paid for a taxi to get there! They explained that they would not offer me a refund as I had booked the room through Expedia/Hotels.com, whose complaints site is currently not loading. Funny that! Avoid.
