New Hotel Of Marseille

A business hotel that is completely impersonal and devoid of charm. However, it is clean, comfortable, but our room located near the terrace and the pool, on the first floor, lacked sound insulation to mitigate the noise from a rather loud group on the terrace in the middle of the night. The most bothersome aspect is the lack of guidelines to encourage people to shower and rinse their feet before swimming. Questionable hygiene at the pool!

I was with my wife for a surprise Valentine’s Day weekend that I had been waiting for a long time, and unfortunately the experience was not up to scratch. From the moment of arrival, total lack of discretion: I had asked for an upgrade “just in case”, and this was mentioned in front of my wife, which spoiled the surprise. We are then assigned a room that did not match my reservation. Good point though: the hotel finally made up for the situation by giving us a follow-up (even though the upgrade was initially refused...). On the other hand, the suite was very noisy because located right next to the elevator, with a permanent noise. Another problem: a glass bottle made available was already opened and started. Room service was fine. Regarding breakfast: no table set (not very hygienic), no too many choices, we waited several minutes to have orange juice served in a single carafe so quickly emptied and no explanation at the entrance of the room: we did not even know whether to wait or settle. The worst part is the departure: During the settlement, the receptionist lacked discretion on payment for services in front of my wife and lacked responsiveness when we reported the bottle of water open. We were also told a global amount for consumption and room service without presenting us with a detailed invoice to check. And the pinnacle: the car park being paid according to the arrival slots once we left, we were stopped at the car park gate to claim a so-called leftover. Very surprising this way of doing things. Finally, after checking, we were well into the time slot, so nothing to pay. But even in case of error, this one came from the hotel: chasing customers as if they were thieves is totally unacceptable and contrary to any sense of service. Between room error, bottle already consumed, parking management and overall lack of professionalism and discretion, this property clearly does not deserve its 4 stars in terms of staff. I really regret this surprise weekend which was supposed to be a special moment. Too bad.
