Mas de La Fouque

A very beautiful setting, but an overall disappointing experience for a 5-star hotel We stayed at the Mas de la Fouque, in the Isis suite. The room is very pleasant, with beautiful materials and real charm. The setting is superb and the place has real potential, even if a few maintenance details could be improved, notably the small adjoining courtyard (vegetation and cleanliness). On the other hand, a big disappointment regarding the dining and evening services. In the restaurant as well as by the pool, the lack of staff is felt: no smooth service, poorly maintained areas (no cushions on the sofas or armchairs, or cushions not put back in place), torn umbrellas, no ambient lighting, or music. The cocktails were very diluted, with the impression of a drink essentially composed of melted ice. Upon our arrival we were very motivated for spa treatments, but given the atmosphere we lost confidence and gave up. At the restaurant, the quality was not up to par: a very basic Caesar salad charged at about €30, with no depth or flavor, and a sloppy presentation, far from the standards expected at this price point and rating. Furthermore, the restaurant menu is full of spelling mistakes! Another surprising point: the absence of wine by the glass clearly indicated on the menu. We had to ask for it, only to be offered regional wines without any real explanation or choice. Finally, at check-out, when we gave honest feedback (as requested), our comment about the wine list was verified in front of us with a form of doubt, before validation. This attitude is clumsy and disrespectful for a guest who spent about €700 in less than 24 hours. In summary, while the location and the rooms are very successful, unfortunately we were not swept away by your world; the service, the dining, and the overall attention are not at the level of a 5-star hotel. The potential is real, but the experience unfortunately does not follow, and we will not return.

The place is magnificent, to say the least. From the room, to the terrace, to the view. The staff is totally unqualified. The waitress at the breakfast service was totally absent and annoyed at the request for assistance. Too bad because it is an oasis of peace but it is always the people who make the difference.

The Mas de la Fouque is a magical place for those who love nature, authenticity, and the Camargue. The room was perfect, with that adorable touch of little chocolates left for the evening. The atmosphere is very lounge-like, conducive to disconnecting, and the breakfast buffet is truly successful: hearty, varied, and high-quality. A very beautiful break that I would have pleasure in repeating, well perhaps… off-season in order to enjoy the spa more and to discover the place in an even different atmosphere. On the other hand, a real downside regarding the welcome at the reception, which, as far as I am concerned, unfortunately did not live up to an establishment of this standing. Upon my arrival, I waited about ten minutes without anyone being present at the reception. When someone finally arrived, the welcome was quite rushed and the escort to my room gave me more the feeling of a formality to be completed than of genuine attention paid to the guest. Same impression at the time of departure: not a word to ask me if my stay had gone well or if I had enjoyed the establishment. The concern seemed above all to be verifying that everything had been paid for. It is a shame, because in a place like this, the welcome should be the first and last memory that one takes away with them. The Mas de la Fouque deserves, in my opinion, a quality of welcome that lives up to its exceptional setting.
