Stay: 26 July 2026 | Room 115 Beautiful property, disappointing service — the worst stay of my week in France I stayed at the Grand Hôtel La Cloche on 26 July in room 115, and while the property itself is genuinely impressive, the standard of service fell well short of what an MGallery Collection hotel should deliver. I have been travelling across France for a week, and this was by some distance my most disappointing stay. On check-in, no one accompanied me to my room, and my luggage was brought up only upon request. For a hotel of this category, being left to find my own way and handle my own bags is not a minor oversight I requested wine glasses and a corkscrew to be sent to the room. Only the glasses arrived. I was obliged to go down to reception myself to obtain a corkscrew I was checked in at 15:00. The spa operates on Sundays from 10:00 to 15:00 only, requires advance booking, and the sole available slot was at 15:00 — precisely the check-in hour. In practice, this made the spa entirely inaccessible to me. I would also question the necessity of mandatory advance reservation for a hotel spa. it is far from standard practice. Deposit. A €200 deposit was taken at check-in. Given that the minibar was empty, I would be grateful for an explanation of what exactly this deposit is intended to cover. The hotel is genuinely beautiful and the rooms are large and well appointed — the building deserves better than the service currently supporting it. I would also single out the gentleman working in the bar, who was attentive, professional and the one clear bright spot of the stay. For a property of this standing and price point, the gap between the setting and the service is difficult to justify. I hope the management will review the arrival procedure, in-room request handling

Not even a drop of liquid soap in the bathroom dispenser. A lot of noise from the park across the street. Lots of flies and bees around at breakfast. Unfriendly waiters. Disgusting downstairs' toilets.

This was one of the nicest hotels my wife and I have ever stayed at in Europe. From the time the bellman approached us on the sidewalk to help us with our bags until the table was cleared after breakfast on our final day, the service here was impeccable. The rooms were very large for European standards and wonderfully clean and modern. The location of the hotel is superb, being only a few minutes walk from the train station and right at the entrance to the main pedestrian area in the city. Oh, and that breakfast... do not miss it!
