Residence Manoa Vacances - Les Hauts de Sarlat

We had a great time here for a week in August with the lady on the reception desk being extremely helpful. The position was fine up a steep hill from Sarlat which was a drag at night walking back but at least it walked your food off. Our biggest gripe was that we like to keep places clean, and if the place left some washing liquid or even a tea towel, dishwasher tablets, etc, it would have been brilliant. Its a lot to ask to buy a tea towel when youre there for just a week. We ordered towels which came at a cost and also the bbq for a week was €20. With the supermarkets being really accessable and a 21 month in our group it was easy to just sit around after a long days sightseeing. The pool was nice and cold as the weather was so hot whilst we were there. Another gripe is the checkout tine of between 8 and 10 in the morning which is really difficult when youve also got to clean the place so that needs looking at.

Signposted as Nexity Vacances, the complex is a gated community, a number of apartments where some people live permanently, other apartments used as holiday lets. There is a pool which was clean and private but there are no sunloungers or chairs. The complex is a 15-20min walk outside the town of Sarlat with little pavement on the route which can leave you feeling a little exposed to some of the vehicles rushing round the bends. Some might find the walk back from town quite steep. Accommodation best for those with a car. We were given the incorrect code for the gate when we arrived but managed to ask someone who was just coming out. Met by Rebecca who was lovely and very helpful although she might be in one of the other apartments when you arrive. Wait at reception or phone the number on the reception door. The one-bed apartment was fine for a single parent and 11-year old son. There is a roll-out single bed in the lounge area and a double-bed in the bedroom. Shower over bath. Kitchen has reasonable variety of items but biggest issue is lack of cleaning materials. Was supplied with 2 dish washer tablets but nothing else - no washing up liquid, no cloth, no bin bags, no soap, one toilet roll. Was given the option of cleaning the apartment on departure but that would mean buying everything. Cleaning fee is understandable but I was asked to take out my own rubbish as well which I did not appreciate. There is also a hire/cleaning fee for towels. Apartments are a very peaceful base (if not sound proofed!) for exploring the area. Views from the apartments are lovely. There is a supermarket, petrol station and newsagent not far away, and a MacDonalds! Sarlat is a beautiful old town with some great restaurants and excellent market.

In April 2015 we rented a vacation villa that was outstanding for the quality and location near Sarlat and the Dordogne River Valley. The villa was a 2 bedroom villa with a kitchen, dinning area, living room, garage, and terrace. There were a variety of rental apartments and villas on the property as well as some people with long-term rentals. We had a wonderful stay and were able to explore the city of Sarlat and the Dordogne River Valley. We were also able to dine at many outstanding restaurants in Sarlat.
