Best Western Hotel L'Oree

Last weekend we stayed at this hotel for the third time. The location is ideal for us: it is located exactly halfway between our house in The Hague and our home in the Dordogne. In addition, the hotel is adjacent to a forest area, where we can walk our dog. In that respect, the location is perfect for us. Nevertheless, we have mixed feelings about our stay. At temperatures above 30 °C, we actually expect a 4-star hotel to have air conditioning. Unfortunately, this is not the case here, so the comfort in the room in hot weather is clearly less. In addition, we got a room on the third floor. The elevator turned out to be faulty. You would expect that, especially for older guests or people with reduced mobility, help will be offered to bring the luggage to the room. Unfortunately, this didn't happen. Also, we have previously had a less professional experience when checking out. Due to a problem with the payment machine we could not pay by card. Cash settlement was also not possible, because there was no change available in the morning. For a hotel of this level, we find that disappointing. Furthermore, the balconies in particular could use some maintenance; a painting would not be a luxury. We also find the quality of the kitchen only mediocre and not quite matching the look and number of stars of the hotel. In short: the location is the great strength of this hotel for us and is the reason we have been here three times. The beautiful surroundings, the tranquility and the opportunities to walk the dog are big pluses. At the same time, there are several points where the hotel can improve to truly live up to its four-star status. For us, therefore, it remains a stay with mixed feelings.

This is a lovely location out in the country, but very basic. It was advertised as being close to Orly, having free breakfast, and a resort kind of atmosphere (fancy restaurant and spa). The cab ride to Orly was 70E, so I would not call that “close”. Despite Trip Advisor saying free breakfast is offered to Best Western members, that was not true. The rooms themselves are basic. We upgraded to the queen room with a view, which had the bed, what I think was a child’s bed, bedside tables and a desk. The room is large but there was no sofa, fridge, microwave, or air conditioning. No blankets in the room (not a problem with the heat). They provided one robe and one hand towel (for two people - weird). We happened to visit during a heat wave. Staff at the hotel were very accommodating and brought ice and a fan. The patio was charming, but there is no shade. The room was very clean and in good condition. The location is absolutely beautiful and the walking trails delightful. Every staff member was kind, pleasant and helpful.
