Best Western Grand Hotel Bristol

⭐ Very disappointing for a supposed 4-star hotel We booked this hotel expecting a comfortable 4-star experience, but unfortunately the reality fell well short of what was advertised. The room was particularly disappointing. We had booked what was described as a Junior Suite, but it was essentially a double room with a pull-out bed. Once the bed was pulled out, it blocked the only exit from the room, which was completely unacceptable. The bathroom was dirty, and during the night the toilet cistern leaked/flooded the bathroom, making an already disappointing room even worse. The condition of the hotel also didn’t match the 4-star description. While the front-of-house areas looked reasonably presentable, the decor elsewhere was tired and dirty, including in the restaurant. Unfortunately, the food was equally disappointing. The restaurant food was bland; the prawns were overcooked and had a soapy taste, while the gazpacho was grainy and tasted strongly of dishwasher. These are not standards I would expect from a hotel presenting itself as 4-star. What made the experience particularly frustrating was the hotel’s response when we raised these issues. There was very little acknowledgement of our concerns, no meaningful apology and no compensation was offered. Hotels.com eventually offered credit, which I accepted because it was better than receiving nothing, but this was certainly not the resolution I would have expected after such a disappointing stay. For a hotel marketed as 4-star and priced accordingly, the accommodation, food and customer service all fell considerably short of expectations. I would not stay here again and would advise others to look carefully at recent reviews before booking.

The hotel is opposite the Colmar station in a historic environment. Parking can be in the parking garage next to the station for €3 per day. EV charging possible on the first floor at a reasonable price. We are staying in a standard room on the first floor. The room was quite worn out and not particularly clean. The bathroom also with moisture stains in the corners. The bathroom is exceptionally, unacceptably small. Staff at the reception and restaurant are friendly. The restaurant is fine. We ate here for two days because of the great service and nice atmosphere.

I visited with my family in August. We had two rooms. They were not well maintained rooms or particularly clean. There was hair in the plug hole, gunk around the shower curtain and hair on the carpet. Did not have a feel of having been cleaned well at all and the service at reception was unfriendly and not particularly welcoming. Overall very disappointing.
