Grand Hotel de l'Opera

My experience at this hotel was not good. When I make hotel reservations, I always read reviews and look at the hotel's features, especially if it has an elevator, since in Europe it can happen that some hotels do not have one. This hotel advertises itself on its website as having an elevator, and when we arrived, we found that to access some rooms, you had to go through two staircases, one with a railing and another spiral one with no possibility of holding onto anything. It was not possible for them to change us until the next day. The reception staff behaved correctly, but we had to stay in that room until the next day with the known inconvenience of moving for two nights of accommodation. The rooms are spacious, provided you like a heavily decorated French Belle Époque style. To me, it seemed a bit oppressive, everything super ornate, almost Rococo. Also, the bathroom in the first room was not completely renovated. The second one was, though. It is worth highlighting the kindness of the bellhop who, upon our departure from the hotel, accompanied us to the parking lot, helping us with the payment for it and loading the suitcases into the car.

The hotel has a charm because of its age, location and most importantly, its staff. We loved the location of the hotel because it put us directly into the center of the vibrant Capitole area of the city. We could walk everywhere or catch transportation with ease. The hotel itself is a true treasure. It has the feel of a time when life was more simple and pleasures were found around the bar or lobby with friends, new and old. The bar, the breakfast area and the lobby are fun and relaxing. The staff is attentive and so helpful. They anticipate your needs and provide services with joy, professionalism and a sense of purpose. It was a delight to spend 2 days at the hotel and we will come back the next time we're in Toulouse.

Really nice quintessentially French hotel. Nice room and extremely customer focused staff. Ideal location for the square.
