Quiet, charming hotel in a good location with very pleasant staff

The establishment enjoys a remarkable location, just steps away from the beautiful medieval village of Yvoire, whose authentic and still relatively preserved charm is well worth a visit. The rooms are elegant, tastefully decorated, and the whole place has, on paper, all the attributes of a high-end "charming little hotel." But unfortunately, behind this attractive facade, the actual experience is deeply disappointing. The famous "lake view" sold at a premium price is more of a visual suggestion than a true unobstructed view. The establishment itself specifies that starting in spring, the foliage largely obscures this perspective... But the real problem lies elsewhere: the level of service is very much insufficient given the rates charged. With the exception of a remarkable young woman of professionalism ensuring the meal service, the staff encountered was generally incompetent, inattentive, and sometimes overwhelmed. Concrete examples abound: • absence of vanity set in the bathrooms • dysfunctional showerhead • shower tray without a non-slip device • completely empty minibar • outdoor pool neither covered nor heated • breakfast charged at €25 per person for a particularly mediocre service In terms of dining, the establishment displays quality ambitions that it does not truly manage to realize. This observation is all the more surprising since Le Bistrot du Port, also operated by the house by the port, offers a much more convincing experience, both in cuisine and in service quality. Ultimately, it is difficult not to notice a significant gap between the stated positioning, the prices charged, and the reality of the experience offered. The charm of a place cannot sustainably compensate for the lack of rigor in execution, as is too often the case!...

Wedding anniversary dinner with friends. It starts badly with the starter, slices of melon, pasta and no taste. The cook does not see that his melon should never have left the kitchen?? We continue with fillets of miller pole, which is the specialty of the area: instead of a creamy melted butter, we have on our plates fish coated with an ugly layer of pasty flour. So much so that I sent my plate back to the kitchen! Needless to say, we didn't have dessert. A disaster this restaurant.
