Excelsior

We just spent two days out of a planned 3 day stay at this revolting hotel. It is nothing as shown online and is extremely dated. Our room had 3 spiders in two days, all of which were still on the wall from being squashed despite the room being 'cleaned'. Our sheets were full of little black bugs and were riddled with holes. The wallpaper was peeling - quite badly in places - the carpet is thread bare and the whole establishment has an odour to it. Half of the lights in our room didn't work and the the bathroom vanity had the hot/cold water tap in the opposite position to the one in the bath/shower - a nice scolding to my daughters hands. I complained on arrival and wasn't relocated to another room. Disgusted. On our second morning the cleaning 'man' knocked once and walked in to our room - whilst we were getting dressed. Even more disgusted. The walls are paper thin and you can hear other guests which included toileting and other bedroom activities. I feel like vomiting now! The breakfast was a joke - days old croissants and cake greeted us on day 1 and the following morning was just as bad. The front desk receptionist that took our key on check out was a rude and abrupt woman who couldn't have cared less how we felt - she should not be working in any job with any customer service required. This hotel will prove themselves - they will either admit their fault and refund our money or continue to dupe future guests. They should be ashamed of their behaviour, particularly in a place like Lourdes. In any case I certainly hope anyone considering this hotel reads these reviews first.

The most beautiful Hotel in the Pyrenees Mountains with closest proximity to the Grotto of Lourdes and the Sanctuaries....The Front office Manager - Mr. Nicolas was very kind and hospitable. He made sure that all our needs were catered to and that we were absolutely comfortable during our 8 days stay. The Housekeeping girls were very efficient...The Hotel is situated at the gates of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes....Will Surely return to Excelsior...Best regards, Darryl Rebeiro

Stayed here with 2 friends on a stop over from a hiking trip in the Pyrenees. Staff were fantastic - very friendly and helpful. They happily stored bags for us for 5 days while we were hiking. Rooms were slightly old fashioned, but that didn't bother us at all (I have seen some people's reviews highlight this as a huge issue, and it really isn't). Free wifi available in the lobby, 2 minute walk from the santuary. Suited us perfectly for what we wanted. Also...fantastic view of the castle and river from our room.
