Citotel De La Marne

I felt this hotel is overpriced. It’s tangential to the city center. Location is not bad. About a 7-8 minute walk to the central area with shops/restaurants. Check-in is restricted to after 4 pm. You will be turned away if you arrive earlier (even to store your bags). The hotel door is locked. Room is VERY basic. It is air conditioned but the managers are strict on amenities. One pillow per guest. We had to use the (plastic wrapped) blanket to help support our heads. Apparently toilet paper is a premium. Requests for additional paper (rolls are half normal size) were denied. Lights on each floor default off. I almost twisted my ankle on a step down because I could not see. We had to use our iPhones to light the way until we figured out the light switches on the floor outside our room. The managers do not speak English (and I’m not complaining about that - just be aware for English speakers). Be prepared to use Google Translate. They did help us with the parking situation in person which was nice. In general the managers seemed friendly but this hotel was like a Super-8 in the US for $150 per night in off season . We are staying in a hotel the same price in Biarritz that is the opposite to every negative comment I have above.
